Hi everyone!
The moon is out tonight and is shining through a thin wisp of clouds.
Today was a day of news and knowledge - the knowing and the unknown.
I'm "listening" to my most favorite song ever - just a short oldie from my youth - "Do You Believe In Magic" by the Lovin S.p.o.o.n.ful - and am reminded that everywhere I look, every thought I think, every feeling in my heart is a part of the "Magic".
Peace and Joy With Lots of Love

Prion discovery gives clue to control of mass gene expressionEurekAlert Public Release: 13-Mar-2009www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2009-03/uoia-pdg031309.phpThe discovery in common brewer's yeast of a new, infectious, misfolded protein -- or prion -- by University of Illinois at Chicago molecular biologists raises new questions about the roles played by these curious molecules, often associated with degenerative brain diseases like "mad cow" and its human counterpart, Creutzfeldt-Jakob. Susan Liebman, distinguished university professor of biological sciences, and postdoctoral research associate Basant Patel propagated the new prion from a normal yeast protein called Cyc8. They note that like the Cyc8 protein, the prion of Cyc8 can affect the expression of a large number of yeast genes. "We know this prion turns on the expression of genes but we don't know if the prion forms naturally," said Liebman. "If it were to form, it would have this effect. But whether it happens out in the wild all the time, we don't know." Liebman and her coworkers discovered that Cyc8 was a prion candidate using a genetic screen that looks for proteins that when overproduced can spur formation of new prions. To date, scientists have discovered only seven prions, six of which are only in fungi, including yeast. The latest two discovered, Cyc8 and another, identified as Swi1, came from genes screened in Liebman's lab. The Cyc8 prion was characterized by the UIC scientists, while the Swi1 prion was found by Northwestern University researchers. The normal Cyc8 protein shuts down expression of more than 300 genes in yeast, says Patel, including some genes that are involved in stress tolerance. "Once Cyc8 is converted to a prion, it loses that function," he said. "This might provide some advantages under stressful conditions. Since the protein represses more than 300 genes, it's possible the prion form can activate the genes on a mass level." If an organism wanted to activate all the genes in a cell that the protein repressed, he said, "converting the protein into a prion would be an easy way to do it." Patel and others in Liebman's lab are testing the protein to see if this molecular mechanism does in fact take place naturally. They're also studying the interaction of prions to determine if pre-existing prions facilitate or destabilize new prions. Whether the actions of prions in yeast are analogous to mammalian models is not yet fully known, but the possibility certainly is on the minds of Liebman and her associates. "There could be prions in humans that are not causing disease but have important effects on the cell or organism," said Liebman. "They may even be related to the ones we find in yeast. The more prions we learn about and study, the more information we learn from them -- how they arrive, what proteins are needed to maintain them. As we study other models, we have a better idea." Jackie Gavin-Smyth, a former research specialist in Liebman's lab now at the University of Chicago, was another co-author of the letter in the March issue of Nature Cell Biology describing the new prion.
The work was supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health.

Nanocups brim with potentialLight-bending metamaterial could lead to superlenses, invisibility cloaksEurekAlert Public Release: 13-Mar-2009www.media.rice.edu/media/NewsBot.asp?MODE=VIEW&ID=12297&SnID=1375936377Metallic nanostructures with their geometry-dependent optical resonances are a topic of intense current interest due to their ability to manipulate light in ways not possible with conventional optical materials. A particularly fascinating aspect of these systems is the recently realized possibility of creating optical frequency “magnetic plasmon” responses of comparable magnitude to the “electric plasmon” response. Here we show that Au nanocups at their magnetoinductive resonance have the unique ability to redirect scattered light in a direction dependent on cup orientation, as a true three-dimensional nanoantenna.Researchers at Rice University have created a metamaterial that could light the way toward high-powered optics, ultra-efficient solar cells and even cloaking devices. Naomi Halas, an award-winning pioneer in nanophotonics, and graduate student Nikolay Mirin created a material that collects light from any direction and emits it in a single direction. The material uses very tiny, cup-shaped particles called nanocups. In a paper in the February issue of the journal Nano Letters, co-authors Halas and Mirin explain how they isolated nanocups to create light-bending nanoparticles. In earlier research, Mirin had been trying to make a thin gold film with nano-sized holes when it occurred to him the knocked-out bits were worth investigating. Previous work on gold nanocups gave researchers a sense of their properties, but until Mirin's revelation, nobody had found a way to lock ensembles of isolated nanocups to preserve their matching orientation. "The truth is a lot of exciting science actually does fall in your lap by accident," said Halas, Rice's Stanley C. Moore Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and professor of chemistry and biomedical engineering. "The big breakthrough here was being able to lift the nanocups off of a structure and preserve their orientation. Then we could look specifically at the properties of these oriented nanostructures." Mirin's solution involved thin layers of gold deposited from various angles onto polystyrene or latex nanoparticles that had been distributed randomly on a glass substrate. The cups that formed around the particles – and the dielectric particles themselves – were locked into an elastomer and lifted off of the substrate. "You end up with this transparent thing with structures all oriented the same way," he said. In other words, he had a metamaterial, a substance that gets its properties from its structure and not its composition. Halas and Mirin found their new material particularly adept at capturing light from any direction and focusing it in a single direction. Redirecting scattered light means none of it bounces off the metamaterial back into the eye of an observer. That essentially makes the material invisible. "Ideally, one should see exactly what is behind an object," said Mirin. "The material should not only retransmit the color and brightness of what is behind, like squid or chameleons do, but also bend the light around, preserving the original phase information of the signal." Halas said the embedded nanocups are the first true three-dimensional nanoantennas, and their light-bending properties are made possible by plasmons. Electrons inside plasmonic nanoparticles resonate with input from an outside electromagnetic source in the same way a drop of water will make ripples in a pool. The particles act the same way radio antennas do, with the ability to absorb and emit electromagnetic waves that, in this case, includes visible wavelengths. Because nanocup ensembles can focus light in a specific direction no matter where the incident light is coming, they make pretty good candidates for, say, thermal solar power. A solar panel that doesn't have to track the sun yet focuses light into a beam that's always on target would save a lot of money on machinery. Solar-generated power of all kinds would benefit, said Halas. "In solar cells, about 80 percent of the light passes right through the device. And there's a huge amount of interest in making cells as thin as possible for many reasons." Halas said the thinner a cell gets, the more transparent it becomes. "So ways in which you can divert light into the active region of the device can be very useful. That's a direction that needs to be pursued," she said. Using nanocup metamaterial to transmit optical signals between computer chips has potential, she said, and enhanced spectroscopy and superlenses are also viable possibilities. "We'd like to implement these into some sort of useful device," said Halas of her team's next steps. "We would also like to make several variations. We're looking at the fundamental aspects of the geometry, how we can manipulate it, and how we can control it better. "Probably the most interesting application is something we not only haven't thought of yet, but might not be able to conceive for quite some time." Argonne scientists discover new platinum catalysts for the dehydrogenation of propaneDiscovery may lead to new strategies for industrial catalystsEurekAlert Public Release: 13-Mar-2009www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2009-03/dnl-asd031309.phpARGONNE, IL — The process to turn propane into industrially necessary propylene has been expensive and environmentally unfriendly. That was until scientists at U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory devised a greener way to take this important step in chemical catalysis. "Using platinum clusters, we have devised a way to catalyze propane not only in a more environmentally friendly way, but also using far less energy than previous methods," Argonne scientist Stefan Vajda said. Alkanes are typical feedstocks for transformation to alkenes, aromatics and chemicals containing value added moieties. Dehydrogenation is a route to such transformations, but it is an endothermic process requiring significant energy input. Oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane to propylene is a multibillion dollar industrial process. ODH of alkanes is exothermic, and thus an attractive alternative to dehydrogenation. However, current ODH catalysts have limited activity and/or poor selectivity resulting from inability to prevent complete oxidation. Two classes of catalysts are used: vanadia and platinum. The vanadia based catalysts are highly selective, but their activity is relatively low. Pt-based catalysts are more active, but their selectivity is low. Argonne scientists showed that the size preselected Pt8-10 clusters stabilized on high-surface-area supports are 40 times more active for the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane than previously studied platinum and vanadia catalysts, while at the same time maintaining high selectivity towards formation of propylene over by-products. This new class of catalysts may lead to energy-efficient and environmentally friendly synthesis strategies and the possible replacement of petrochemical feedstocks by abundant small alkanes. "The oxidative dehydrogenation of alkanes is a reaction that is exothermic and thus an attractive alternative to the endothermic process of dehydrogenation of alkanes," Argonne scientist Larry Curtiss said. "The endothermic process requires a significant energy input with an increased chance of environmentally unfriendly by-products." Using high performance computing facilities at Argonne and elsewhere, Vajda and his colleagues proved theoretically that attractive interaction between the under-coordinated platinum and propane was the cause for the higher selectivity towards propylene and its high activity. Subnanometre Platinum Clusters as Highly Active and Selective Catalysts for the Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Propane can be seen Nature Materials 8, 213 (2009).

'The Unexpected Outcome' Is A Key To Human LearningScienceDaily Mar. 15, 2009www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/03/090313145952.htmThe human brain’s sensitivity to unexpected outcomes plays a fundamental role in the ability to adapt and learn new behaviors, according to a new study by a team of psychologists and neuroscientists from the University of Pennsylvania. Using a computer-based card game and microelectrodes to observe neuronal activity of the brain, the Penn study, published March 13 in the journal Science, suggests that neurons in the human substantia nigra, or SN, play a central role in reward-based learning, modulating learning based on the discrepancy between the expected and the realized outcome. “This is the first study to directly record neural activity underlying this learning process in humans, confirming the hypothesized role of the basal ganglia, which includes the SN, in models of reinforcement including learning, addiction and other disorders involving reward-seeking behavior,” said lead author Kareem Zaghloul, postdoctoral fellow in neurosurgery at Penn’s School off Medicine. “By responding to unexpected financial rewards, these cells encode information that seems to help participants maximize reward in the probabilistic learning task.” Learning, previously studied in animal models, seems to occur when dopaminergic neurons, which drive a larger basal ganglia circuit, are activated in response to unexpected rewards and depressed after the unexpected omission of reward. Put simply, a lucky win seems to be retained better than a probable loss. Similar to an economic theory, where efficient markets respond to unexpected events and expected events have no effect, we found that the dopaminergic system of the human brain seems to be wired in a similar rational manner -- tuned to learn whenever anything unexpected happens but not when things are predictable," said Michael J. Kahana, senior author and professor of psychology at Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences. Zaghloul worked with Kahana and Gordon Baltuch, associate professor of neurosurgery, in a unique collaboration among departments of psychology, neurosurgery and bioengineering. They used microelectrode recordings obtained during deep brain stimulation surgery of Parkinson’s patients to study neuronal activity in the SN, the midbrain structure that plays an important role in movement, as well as reward and addiction. Patients with Parkinson’s disease show impaired learning from both positive and negative feedback in cognitive tasks due to the degenerative nature of their disease and the decreased number of dopaminergic neurons. The recordings were analyzed to determine whether responses were affected by reward expectation. Participants were asked to choose between red and blue decks of cards presented on a computer screen, one of which carried a higher probability of yielding a financial reward than the other. If the draw of a card yielded a reward, a stack of gold coins was displayed along with an audible ring of a cash register and a counter showing accumulated virtual earnings. If the draw did not yield a reward or if no choice was made, the screen turned blank and participants heard a buzz. “This new way to measure dopaminergic neuron activity has helped us gain a greater understanding of fundamental cognitive activity," said Baltuch, director of the Penn Medicine Center for Functional and Restorative Neurosurgery. The work is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Conte Center and the Dana Foundation. Journal reference: Kareem A. Zaghloul, Justin A. Blanco, Christoph T. Rethinking science and technology for the 21st century2020 Science March 13, 20092020science.org/2009/03/13/rethinking-science-and-technology-for-the-21st-century/Like it or not, society is dependent on science and technology. The only way we can cram 6 billion people plus onto the earth and use resources at the rate we do, is through the support of scientific discovery and technology innovation. Take our technology-based infrastructure away and civilization as we know it would collapse. Perhaps more worrying, our dependency on science and technology is accelerating. The world’s population continues to grow, lifestyle expectations are going up, and supporting technologies are becomes increasingly sophisticated. But this “progress” can only be sustained through increasing the rate with which new discoveries are made and new technology innovations are implemented. At some point this cycle of technology addiction probably needs to be broken if society is to avoid a rather nasty crash. But I suspect that such a crash is some way off yet. And it is entirely plausible that the solution for avoiding such a crash will itself arise from technology-based innovation. Which means that if global society is to continue to mature and prosper, we have to get the whole science and technology enterprise right. The only alternative is to face a radical “recalibration” of society, leading to a population level and demands on resources that are more in keeping with the Earth’s load-carrying capacity. Assuming that we want to avoid a rapid and potentially catastrophic reduction in the world’s population, we need to ask whether the way we currently “do” science and technology is good enough. And if it isn’t what needs to change? Rethinking science and technology for the 21st century is going to be the subject of a series of blogs over the next few weeks—I’m afraid this is only the teaser! I’ll be drawing on a recent lecture at the James Martin 21st Century School [1] at Oxford University, which means that if you want a heads-up, you can always browse through the slides [PDF, 8.9 MB] [2]. But I should warn you that the story might not be that clear from the slides alone. This is a bit of an experiment—the serialization of a lecture, and a prelude to a more formal academic paper. But hopefully it will be both interesting and useful. I’ll be aiming to publish a “rethinking science and technology” blog every week or so week, interspersed with the usual eclectic mix of stuff you’ve come to expect from 2020science. First off will be the framing the problem, and introducing the “three C’s”—look out for it over the next week. In the meantime, here’s the abstract from the original lecture, to whet your appetite: As we move further into the 21st century, we are facing a confluence of three factors that will shake up the interface between society and science. Nanoscale science and technology are enabling unprecedented control over matter, allowing living and non-living systems to be manipulated and used in radical new ways. Innovative new approaches to communication and networking are facilitating the emergence of virtual partnerships that transcend geographical, organizational and social boundaries. And society is now so closely coupled to the biosphere that our actions are stressing the system to a greater extent than ever before in human history.
This confluence of control, communication and coupling raises major challenges for society in the 21st century. But it also contains the seeds of effective solutions. However, to nurture and grow these seeds, new approaches to science and technology innovation will be needed. These will include developing research agendas that are driven by social challenges, engaging citizens through building constituencies, and cultivating scientists with a clear sense of civic responsibility. Dear BOGS (black-ops goobers),
Now let's get real here. It's time to dust off the super-secret space fleet and clean up the mess in and around the Earth's atmosphere.
You can use the "beamo's" no one's supposed to know about to do this.
If you're skitish about the possible collision with your garbage, then just use the laser platforms (yeah, I know, we're not supposed to know about those, either...) and fry the little specks.
Don't freak out about it. It's called "waste management" earthside.
When that's completed, I have another job for you.
What technology currently available at your little labs is ready for magnetosphere mitigation. I know you've been playing around with your toys. You see, everytime you play your games it's noted. Not just by people here, but by others of a higher calling. The "goobers" you're protecting would not hesitate to slam the door in your face when they run for the cover of their bunkers.
So, why don't you just lay down the weaponry and walk away from the tripe trip you're being fed and join humanity and unity.
We would welcome open hearts and minds united for peace.
Thank you for your time.

Dear President Obama,
First, I would like to offer my thanks for your willingness to shoulder the burdens of leadership of the United States of America. It is an onerous task. I certainly wouldn't want the job.
You are faced with many tasks and a Legislative branch that spends too much time posturing and sniping, a Judicial branch that spends too much time re-hearing and re-interpreting the same old laws with new plaintiffs and defendants, an overload of critical issues that previous administrations either ignored, created or nurtured along a path of corruption...I know the list is long and there is no need to post them all here.
Just allow me to suggest one thing:
You have, to date, displayed integrity, honor and balance in an arena filled with chaos and clamor. Please continue on your path. I agree, these are difficult times, but we are up to the challenges we face, sir, and we won't let you down.
Thank you for your time.
Respectfully yours,
Sally Anne Citizen of the United States of America

Here is an excellent and complementary article written in 2002 by David Wilc*o*c*k on THE ULTIMATE SECRET OF THE MAYAN CALENDAR: divinecosmos.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=45&Itemid=30Relevant excerpts below regarding the work of Dr. S.V. Smelyakov and Y. Karpenko on the Mayan Calendar: . . . . we may well have the "smoking gun" to prove scientifically that a fundamental energetic change is occurring throughout the entire Solar System at this time, fostering a crucial link between the local effects on the Sun, Earth and other planets and the effects upon the consciousness of humanity. <snip> PHI-HARMONICS THROUGHOUT THE SOLAR SYSTEM… AND NATURE Smelyakov explains that most of the "phi-harmonics" that can be found in the Solar System are based on either the Earth’s orbit of 1 year or the basic Sunspot cycle of 11.07 years. [6] Either of these cycles can be used as the central point upon which to calculate the harmonics of phi. When this is done, Smelyakov says that by taking various powers of phi or various powers of 2 x phi from these "seed" cycles of time, we get "most known basic periods in Nature and society from biology to geology, including economical cycles." [6] Dr. Smelyakov’s literally Earth-shaking discovery involving the Mayan Calendar cycle was found by a process similar to the above, where a given time cycle with a given start date is then divided into "a sequence of intervals [within it that have a] duration decreasing [by phi.]" <snip> Two "bifurcation points" of extreme change in 2003 and 2008 have been established from Smelyakov’s studies of more local cycles of planetary movement as well as the statistically-estimated timing of the most significant population changes in China. [3/13/09: Jan Wicherink discovered that the ending-point was slightly ‘off’ in its calibration. The resulting ‘fix’ re-aligned the ‘bifurcation points,’ placing the projected 2008 event at March 20, 2009. Obama’s election, coupled with the economic collapse and the resulting ‘housecleaning’ now taking place, is one major fulfillment of this prophecy.] <snip> MAJOR SPIRITUAL ADVANCES Almost every religious teaching in the world originated during one of the cycle points, including Krishna, Vyasa, Zoroaster, Gautama Buddha, Fu-Si, Lao-tzu, Confucius, Pythagoras, Plato et al. and Christianity. [6] Practically all known ancient civilizations created calendars during these times as well, including China, India, Iran, Babylon, Egypt, Maya, et cetera. [6] And now with the work of Dr. Aleskey Dmitriev [1], we have also seen how the entire Solar System is showing signs of an ever-increasing energetic charge. It is utterly remarkable that the Maya would be able to encode this cycle so clearly into their Calendar, with its connections not only to the linear phenomenon of precession but to an exponential phenomenon based on "phi" that has such clear energetic effects on both the material plane and the arena of consciousness. It is even more remarkable that this cycle would ratchet forward with ever-increasing intensity into the moment wherein the Earth’s precessional position is in perfect alignment with the center of our Galaxy. [4] The mysteries of how and why all these cycles relate will be unveiled and integrated in our upcoming final book, The Divine Cosmos. NO REASON TO FEAR THE CHANGES By combining the effects of geo-cosmic change with the overall flourishing of humanity in the cultural and spiritual sense, we see that as the cycle continues to exponentially accelerate its energetic rate of vibration into the 2012-2013 "singularity," we can expect ever-more rapid increases in human awareness, leading up to a discontinuous mega-event where "time and space collapse" as we know it. We believe that there is no reason to fear this change, as what we are moving towards is a literal shift in the basic characteristics of matter, energy and consciousness. In our second article on this website entitled "A Scientific Blueprint for Ascension," we have demonstrated a connection between these energetic changes and the evolution of life on Earth. The work of Dr. Vladimir Poponin, Dr. Glen Rein and others show us that our DNA is actually an energetic "field effect" that appears to be an innate characteristic of the "vibrations" of space-time now around us. TRANSFORMATION OF PHYSICAL MATTER — AND LIFE ITSELF As these outer energetic changes occur, there are changes in life as well — and as we demonstrated in The Science of Oneness [11], once these energy increases reach a critical threshold there is a literal transformation of matter into a higher "density" or dimension of energy, thus rendering it invisible to those in our own "third density" or dimension. Though this seems quite impossible to believe, there are ample cases of human disappearance and / or invisibility and other anomalous effects on matter in the presence of high-intensity energetic fields. This includes "vortex" effects such as those documented in the Bermuda and Devil’s Triangles, as well as lesser-known anomalies associated with tornadoes. [11] DAWNING OF A GOLDEN AGE From our research, it appears that the Ancients knew of this coming time quite well, and referred to it as the dawning of a Golden Age for humanity, the likes of which have never before been imagined. All of us are being given an opportunity to experience a collective initiation, as Gregg Braden would say, wherein we have the choice to move out of fear and into trust that the prophecies given to us are indeed accurate. These prophecies include the words of Jesus of Nazareth, who said, "As I do these things, so shall ye do them, and greater things…" [John 14:12.] GG

<quote shortened for brevity>
Towhorn . . . saw this info you posted on prions and it reminded me of the work of Dr. Leonard Horowitz (with whom Dan has collaborated) and his book, Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse. This snip from an Amazon review shows the correlation to the info in your post:
Dr. Horowitz reveals that prion proteins that can transmit disease by bypassing our natural immunological systems which fail to recognize them are within such seeming mysteries as Gulf War Syndrome. The prions are probably crystalline in structure he goes on to observe. Viruses and bacterium once used to infect us are now outdated and ineffective. Proteins that have adopted 'abnormal forms' have become disease couriers instead. They are much harder to detect since they don't require DNA and RNA as a part of their composition. They can 'evade host immune survelliance'.
Prions, according to the authors, are receivers and transmitters of electromagnetic energies. So be on the lookout for crypto-crystalline epidemics manipulated by HAARP and EISCAT, military projects heavily funded by the New World Orderers which use electromagnetism to manipulate everything from weather systems to the common cold.

There's a news update too, but it's so graphic and upsetting. Anyway, it's nicer to hear from the family...this is a letter from his sister: Update about Tristan Anderson's conditionwww.indybay.org/newsitems/2009/03/14/18577239.php
by Mahtin Saturday Mar 14th, 2009 7:36 PM
Here is an update that I received from Tristan's family Hello Friends and Family,
THANK YOU to all of you who have emailed, called and are holding Tristan and our family in the light. It matters tremendously as we all hold faith for Tristan to recover and return home.
Here is the update for today. Andrew from the US Embassy in Israel called. He had just seen Tristan in person along with Gaby (Tristan's girlfriend)...
Tristan is stable. He is still unconscious and they are keeping him that way for several more days as it helps with the healing. They are closely monitoring the fluid levels in his brain. Tristan is under 24 hour monitoring and is receiving the best possible care. Trauma care in Israel is done following the same protocols as the U.S. Tristan has been transferred from Emergency Care to the Neurological ICU. This is great news as it means he was stable enough for them to move him. This IC specializes in neurology so Tristan will be getting focused, specific care.
I will continue to send updates as we hear more. Please continue to keep Tristan in your thoughts, prayers, and light.

<quote shortened for brevity> Towhorn . . . saw this info you posted on prions and it reminded me of the work of Dr. Leonard Horowitz (with whom Dan has collaborated) and his book, Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse. This snip from an Amazon review shows the correlation to the info in your post: Dr.
So be on the lookout for crypto-crystalline epidemics manipulated by HAARP and EISCAT, military projects heavily funded by the New World Orderers which use electromagnetism to manipulate everything from weather systems to the common cold.GG Hiya GG!
Well, prions are prions. They've been around long before the NWO and they will continue after the NWO becomes dust in the winds of space.
Based on the series of articles I've read that are available both online and in journals, the "prion issue" has close relations to the environmental factors of the host system(s).
Given the exposure of more surface area (soil), the changes in the fresh and salt water (oceans) composition and temperatures, the pollution in the atmosphere, the reduced envelope of our magnetosphere and the protection its components provides, etc...all of these factor in the "prion" equation.
Nature will balance the equation. It doesn't matter what the NWO has on its silly agenda(s). HAARP and EISCAT are like the flash momentarily seen from a firefly - and even that's too long a timescale - in comparison to the electromagnetic interactions occurring on a stellar level. There are so many holes in their calculations that they do not even warrant a footnote in the annuls of humanity's contributions to the science of the multiverse.
Now this is the short version of the thoughts running through my mind. ;D
It would be more productive to concentrate on the issues of global warming - all of the issues. As we change our environment, we change ourselves - that is a fact. Prions have been "of the earth and with the earth" far longer than our species has "walked the earth". That, too, is a fact. Before some goofus group started mucking around with electromagnetic arrays, more powerful electromagnetic forces were interacting with this planet, its environment and its denizens. Theirs' is a control issue. Nature simply flows. It has no need to control.
The same type of expediency currently being used with respects to our economic crisis needs to be applied to the global warming crisis.
Yes, both are painful processes and we will all experience "changes" BUT the main point is WE will combine OUR efforts to resolve these issues. WE - not some group of bozos with some antiquated sweatshop controller mentality working on some ridiculous "plan" that has locked them to this world with a "NO ESCAPE" clause in the fine print.
Hope this provides a bit more insight.
Peace and Joy Always
Sally Anne PS - As an added bit of information...HemoBioTech Announces Dramatic Clearance of Prions with the ORTH TechnologyCentreDaily Tuesday, Mar. 10, 2009www.centredaily.com/business/technology/story/1162381.htmlDALLAS — HemoBioTech (OTCBB:HMBT) (www.hemobiotech.com) announced today that their orthogonal (ORTH) technology showed to be extremely effective in elimination of prion proteins that cause mad cow disease (BSE) and a similar disease in humans (vCJD/CJD). The ORTH technology removed prion proteins at a rate of 10 -10 from biological fluids used to make specific pharmaceutical products. This clearance is about 100,000 times greater than is required by the FDA and has the potential for establishing a new standard for pharmaceutical products made from bovine (cow) or human plasma sources. The GLP validation of the ORTH technology was performed by BioReliance Laboratories in Rockville, MD and Glasgow, Scotland, using FDA accepted techniques. Multiple medical and cosmetic products are made from bovine sources such as serum and collagen, as well as from human plasma, such as albumin, immunoglobulins, thrombin, fibrinogen and other clotting factors. The market for such products is approximately $7 billion. One important regulatory requirement for these products is the effective clearance of prion proteins. The ORTH technology has the potential to play a significant role in the production of some of these products. HemoBioTech is using the ORTH technology for purification of their bovine hemoglobin that is chemically modified with ATP, Adenosine and GSH to make its lead product HemoTech, which potentially is the first viable substitute for human blood. Based on data to date, the Adenosine and GSH overcome hemoglobin intrinsic toxicity, which has plagued all other attempts to develop a substitute for human red blood cells. HemoTech is being developed for uses in trauma, surgery and ischemia. About 10% of new HIV AIDS cases globally are caused by HIV contaminated blood, HemoTech has the potential to be an alternative to contaminated blood. The proprietary ORTH technology involves several biotechnological steps, such as nanofiltration, chromatography and chemical treatment, during the purification of the products resulting in orthogonal clearance and inactivation of prions. The ORTH technology was developed at Texas Tech University by Dr. Jan Simoni and his colleagues and HemoBioTech has an exclusive worldwide license to commercialize ORTH. HemoBioTech is pursuing sublicensing the ORTH technology to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in return for upfront fees, milestone payments and royalties. Interested parties should contact Dr. Arthur P. Bollon, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO of HemoBioTech, at arthurb@flash.net or 972-455-8955 “We are very excited about the efficiency of the prion clearance using the ORTH technology. Bovine and human plasma medical products represent a significant medical market and we offer the ORTH technology to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry for production of these important products,” said Dr. Arthur P. Bollon, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO of HemoBioTech. About HemoBioTech, Inc: HemoBioTech is engaged in the commercial development of HemoTech, a novel human blood substitute technology developed by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center scientists, Drs. Mario Feola and Jan Simoni, and exclusively licensed from Texas Tech University System. HemoTech is composed of bovine hemoglobin that is chemically modified with ATP, Adenosine and GSH. HemoTech not only can carry oxygen in the blood, but can also induce erythropoiesis (red blood cell production). The Company believes that HemoTech, due to its novel structure, may possess properties that diminish the intrinsic toxicities that have plagued other attempts at developing blood substitutes, based upon pre-clinical and initial human clinical trials undertaken outside the U.S. HemoTech is being subjected to further studies and testing to confirm and expand on these studies.
At a recent meeting in April 28-29, 2008 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for blood substitutes, the FDA indicated the need for a new generation of hemoglobin based blood substitutes and the Adenosine-GSH approach of HemoTech was cited. HemoTech is being developed to help reduce or eliminate the danger resulting from acute blood loss in trauma, as well as for other conditions. The Company is also pursuing the sublicense of ORTH technology for the clearance of prions and viruses during the purification of medical and cosmetic products derived from bovine and human plasma sources. The ORTH technology was developed Dr. Simoni at Texas Tech University and HemoBioTech has an exclusive worldwide license. Corporate headquarters are located at 5001 Spring Valley Road, Suite 1040-West, Dallas, Texas 75244. Such statements include declarations regarding the intent, belief or current expectations of HemoBioTech and its management and are valid only as of today, and we disclaim any obligation to update this information. These statements are subject to known and unknown risks and uncertainties that may cause actual future experience and results to differ materially from the statements made. Factors that might cause such a difference include, among others the successful pre-clinical development, the successful completion of clinical trials, the FDA review process and other governmental regulation, pharmaceutical collaborator interest and ability to successfully develop and commercialize drug candidates, competition from other pharmaceutical companies, product pricing and third party reimbursement, and other factors which are included in HemoBioTech's Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ending December 31, 2007, as amended, and HemoBioTech's other reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Now, other than the "money factors" cited, others are looking into resolutions to the resulting diseases that are linked back to prions (prion is a propagating infectious agent that is composed of protein. To date, all such agents that have been discovered propagate, by transmitting a mis-folded protein state; the protein does not itself self-replicate and the process is dependent on the presence of the polypeptide in the host organism). Why do I link it to global warming...Impact of Anthropogenic Environmental Alterations on Vector-Borne DiseasesPubMedCentralwww.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pubmed&pubmedid=19099032Oral Transmissibility of Prion Disease Is Enhanced by Binding to Soil ParticlesPLoS Pathogenswww.plospathogens.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.ppat.0030093These are just two of many research articles referencing prions and the downside of environmental degradation impacts. As cited in the PLoS Pathogen article, the polypeptide sequence need only be present in the host system. The PubMed article shows the ecological consequences of irresponsible environmental handling. HOWEVER - there are MANY other unknown RNA and DNA sequences that exist within the host system(s). While some prions induce aberrant behavior, it is quite possible that other prions induce countermeasures to disease. In addition, we can aid Nature by changing our methodology with respects to the environment and halt the exposure to vector-born diseases, some of which activate the prion process(es). Lyme disease is an example of this.
With respects to the article above and the ORTH technology:
Why not include the process as an additional step in the medical protocols being used to treat to those currently suffering from prion-induced diseases to clean the blood?
