>> edited for length and relevance· The cooking gas crisis which has erupted last November has continued to affect the Gaza Strip. This crisis was created when the Israeli occupation authorities totally closed, on 04 January 2010, Nahal Oz crossing, which used to be dedicated for the delivery of fuel and cooking gas supplies to Gaza, and shifted fuel and cooking gas supplies to Karm Abu Salem crossing which is not technically equipped to receive Gaza's needs of fuel. Karm Abu Salem crossing, with its maximum absorptive capacity, can receive only 200 tons of cooking gas per day. *** www.solarcooking.org/plans/ *** ***http://www.solarcooking.org/images/tirecooker.jpg*** Many other solar cooker plans are available and directions are given in a multitude of languages.

Ni'lin village—Struggle Against The Apartheid Wall/ 10.06.2011 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy_OGqLow20Uploaded by Nilinvillage on Jun 12, 2011

The weekly Friday demonstration in Ni'lin set off with a prayer as always, with a dozens of Ni'lin villagers participating along with a number of Israeli and international peace activists. Upon arrival at the Apartheid-Annexation Wall, some demonstrators tried to open a gate in it in order to reach their fields, however, this resulted in four protesters being severely distressed from gas inhalation fired by the Occupation Forces and another injured in the hand after being struck with a tear gas projectile.
In the afternoon, demonstrators returned to the quarry built illegally by Israel near Nil'in -- at last week's demonstration an Israeli private security guard fired live bullets at the nonviolent protesters.
In another demonstration the same day which was organized by the Ni'lin and Budrus popular committees, residents from the adjacent village of Shuqba, Israelis, internationals and Ni'lin villagers protested against the quarry which is eating away at the village's land. Approximately 150 protesters approached the Natuf quarry, and dismantled the barbed wire protecting it. In retaliation, occupation soldiers and border police fired tear gas canisters resulting in large fires that spread quickly on the dry land surrounding the quarry and distress to the protesters from tear gas inhalation. Unlike last week's protest, when one demonstrator was injured from a ricochet from a live round fired by the private security guard, there were no injuries or arrests.Private Israeli guard opened live fire on peacefully protesters/04.06.2011

Private Israeli guard opened live fire on protesters marching on an illegal quarry near Shuqba village in the west bank today 04.06.2011.
Today one protester struck in the head by shrapnel of live bullets during a peaceful protest against the Israeli illegal quarry in the west bank near the village of Shukba. The march was organized by the Ni'lin and Budrus popular committees. The demonstration began at 12:00 pm And joint with dozens of Palestinians together with a number of Israeli peace activists, moved toward the illegal quarry inorder to stop it from confiscating more lands from the lands of Ni'lin town.Qibya,Shukba, and Shebteen.
Before arrival of the demonstrators to the scene, One Israeli security guard opend live fire on the peacefully protesters directly which led to the injury of one demonstrator in the head by shrapnel of live bullets, then he was sent to the hospital by the ambulance directly to get the necessary treatment.
Also, after a few time , three Israeli military jeeps came and started firing at the demonstrators with tear gas canister which led to a dozens suffers from suffocation as a result of inhaling the poison gas and many olive trees were burned too.
Briefly background:
The illegal quarry is an Israeli stones grinder owned by an Israeli commander who was working in the Israeli police service. It confiscated thousands of Acres from the Palestinian lands, and it is still expanding in the northern side of ni'lin town and continue the confiscation of more lands from it and the near villages.
.......... The Palestinian Village of Ni’lin Background information and reference data29 May 2008 The Palestine MonitorNi’lin village is located in the West Bank, 26 km to the west of Ramallah city. It lies at the centre of seven other villages: Al Midya, Qibya, Shuqba, Shabtin, Budrus, Deir Qaddis, and Kharbatha Bani Harith. Historically, Ni’lin served as the centre of education, health, economic and public services for the surrounding villages. Ni’lin Secondary School is the top school in the area, and hosts students from several other villages. The village also has a small, basically equipped hospital, in addition to a number of factories that produce juice, cola, and rubber. LandUntil 1948, Ni’lin villagers owned 58,000 dunums (580 hectares: 1 dunum = 0.01 hectares) of land, which stretched as far as Ramle and Lod, cities that now lie inside Israel. After the Nakba of 1948, 40,000 dunums of this land was annexed to the newly created Israeli state. After the occupation of the West Bank in 1967, the illegal settlements of Kiryat Sefer, Mattityahu and Maccabim were built on village lands. In addition, new roads were created for the ever-expanding settlements of Nili and Na’ale. Together, these settlements and their associated infrastructure ate up another 8,000 dunums of Ni’lin’s land. Moreover, an Israeli military base and scores of military checkpoints were also set up in the area. Ni’lin situation map ARIJThese confiscations left Ni’lin with just 10,000 of its original 58,000 dunums of land. Yet construction of the Wall on the western side of the village, and a military base on the southern side will strip Ni’lin of a further 2,500 dunums of land. In addition to this, the closure of the main entrance to the village to replace it with a tunnel running under the segregated settler-only road will involve the confiscation of a further 200 dunums. This will effectively turn Ni’lin into a prison, where the Israeli military will have the power to open and close the tunnel to the village indiscriminately and at whim. Finally, this will leave the village with just 7,300 dunums, including the land on which the houses are built. The land to be confiscated includes prime agricultural land; hundreds of the olives trees will be lost. Population In 1948 there were 2,500 inhabitants living in Ni’lin. Today, 60 years later, there are some 5,000 inhabitants. Under normal growth rates, the population should be five times higher. But continuous land confiscations and resulting poverty and unemployment, together with closures, have led people to leave the village in search of better work opportunities. ArchaeologySeveral archaeological sites can be found in Ni’lin dating back to the Canaanite period, including the Al-Natof site that is thousands of years old, the Zebda site, the Shuqba caves, as well as castles and buildings that are five times older than the Israeli occupation. These sites are global cultural heritage, yet Israel is either destroying them day after day by building the Wall, or seeking to take control of these archaeological sites. Water resourcesThe private Israeli water company ‘Mekorot’ has controlled water resources in the West Ramallah district under authorisation from the Israeli military since 1967, effectively stealing the water from Palestinians at selling it back to them at inflated prices. Additional water to Ni’lin and the surrounding villages is supplied by a well and springs located in Shabtin village. Yet even the amount of water that they can draw from these sources is controlled by the Israeli military. Meanwhile, settlers living in the surrounding settlements can access four times more water than Palestinians, and pay five times less for it than the Palestinian owners of the water sources. Villagers often face acute water shortages in the summer time because Israel cuts water supplies to the villages, forcing villagers to purchase tanks of water at high cost. Bypass roadsOver the years, hundreds of dunums of Ni’lin’s land has been classified as Area C by the Israeli military, which subsequently allowed the construction of bypass Road 446 on these lands. The official pretext used to justify this confiscation and construction was that these roads would connect Ni’lin with the surrounding villages. Yet Palestinians have been forbidden from using these roads since 2003. Instead, Road 446 connects three settlements in the area with each other. Now, Israel is planning to connect these settlements with Tel Aviv by constructing yet another bypass road on the northern side of the village, which will mean that even more land from the villages of Ni’lin, Qibya and Budrus will be lost. Construction of this new road will also isolate the surrounding villages from each other; this new Israeli plan will isolate the nine western villages into three ghettos and jails. Settlements Following Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in 1967, the successive Israeli Governments adopted a policy of land confiscation for the various Israeli purposes that were mostly exemplified in the establishment of settlements, bypass roads and military bases. Accordingly, the village of Ni’lin witnessed the confiscation of its lands for the establishment of five Israeli settlements that stand on 1963 dunums, 13.3% of the village’s total land area. The settlements are a home to more than 40,000 Israeli settlers as illustrated in the table below: Classification of Lands in Ni’lin village according to Oslo II Agreement of 1995D = dunumsSource: ARIJ GIS UNIT 2007The village also suffers from the flow of wastewater from Israeli settlements such as Hashmon’im and the settlements inside the Green Line into its land. The flood of wastewater intersects with Ad Doyeh water flow that separates the village of Ni’lin from the village of Al Midya (South of Ni’lin). The TunnelThe Israeli army has informed the village about a new tunnel that it is planning to build at the entrance to Ni’lin on the western side of the village. Some 150 dunums of the village’s land will be confiscated for this purpose. The current entrance to the village will be closed, and will be replaced by the tunnel to be built under Road 446. The first aim of the tunnel is to control the life of Ni’lin’s 5,000 inhabitants and to cut them off from their networks in the surrounding villages, and Ramallah city. It will be built on some of the village’s best agricultural land, and will see the destruction of hundreds of olive trees that serve as a key livelihood for the local people. The direction of the tunnel will come from west to east, dividing the village into two parts: upper and lower Ni’lin. One direction will isolate 1,000 inhabitants living in the upper area, and will prevent then from accessing the lower area. This will mean that they will be cut off from health, education and other services in the upper part, as well as from social and kinship networks. Their movement will depend on the whim of Israeli soldiers who will open the gate to upper Ni’lin for 45 minutes each day, like in Jayyous and other West Bank villages for example. The second aim of the gate is to destroy the village’s economy, and the third aim is to isolate farmers from their agricultural land. HousingSince 1967, the Israeli military has committed daily human rights violations against Palestinians: killing, injuring and arresting them, stealing land etc. These violations also include house demolitions under the pretext that the owners do not hold the necessary building permits, despite the fact that they are built inside the West Bank. The Israeli army has destroyed five houses in the surrounding villages in the past few years. Recently, the Israeli army informed 20 families in Almed that their houses will be demolished because they are built without permits, again, in spite of the fact that they are built inside the West Bank. Humanitarian disaster, poverty and unemploymentThe rate of unemployment has risen rapidly in the last few years as a direct result of land confiscation, closures and siege. Now, more than 80% of the villagers depend on wage labour in Israeli workshops and factories. The current closure policy of Israel, halt on work permits in Israel for Palestinians, the construction of the Wall, has lead to an unemployment rate of approximately 60% (there are no official statistics yet). When the Wall will be finished, it will be even harder for most villagers to reach their work in Israel, and this number will be even higher. Subsequently, because the agricultural land, the first income alternative for the village, has been and still is being confiscated for the benefits of the surrounding settlements, the people of Nilin and surrounding villages are left with no means to ensure an income. This has turned the village from a breadbasket into a hungry population, has undermined the villagers’ right to live a dignified life, and has prevented them from fulfilling other minimum human rights enshrined in international law. ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- - *The Right of Return and the Right to Break the Fence* <http://www.middleea stmonitor. org.uk/articles/ middle-east/ 2478-the- right-of- return-and- the-right- to-break- the-fence> Dr. Mohsen M. Saleh, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) 6/16/2011 When the 12-year-old 'Imad saw his mother prepare some sandwiches, which they can have during the march on 15/5/2011 to the southern Lebanese borders with Palestine, he wondered in surprise, "What is the food for? Will we have the time to eat it? Aren't we going today to the borders of Palestine to fight the Israelis?" The message which this kid and his peers have conveyed gave that event another dimension. These marches of return that headed towards the borders with Palestine, which was occupied in 1948 and became known as Israel, turned into a landmark in the Palestinian approach to the right of the Palestinians to return to their homeland. The Return Marches: A Turning Point The crowds that participated in the marches in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, West Bank and the Gaza Strip in addition to those killed while trying to penetrate the border fence represented three important indicators: First: Transforming the right of return from a theoretical framework or a nostalgic wish to a practical program. This indicates that Palestinian refugees are adherent to their land and that their stay in host countries depends on their ability to return. Thus, this indicator sends a reassuring message to the host countries which are concerned about naturalization. Second: The strong transition of the issue of return to the third generation. This proves that the owners of this right have not forgotten it but rather became more ready to die for it. They are ready to use new, effective, and even costly methods which have not been used by their fathers or grandfathers. The vast majority of participants were the youth and almost all of those who were killed and wounded were the young also. This conveys an important and decisive message in this respect and proves that the Israeli hope "The old will die and the young will forget" did not come true. Hence, the hopes of those concerned about the right of return were boosted as much as the Israeli side was frustrated.more. . <http://www.middleea stmonitor. org.uk/articles/ middle-east/ 2478-the- right-of- return-and- the-right- to-break- the-fence>e-mail <mailto:?subject= The%20Right% 20of%20Return% 20and%20the% 20Right%20to% 20Break%20the% 20Fence%20& body=The% 20Right%20of% 20Return% 20and%20the% 20Right%20to% 20Break%20the% 20Fence%20- -%20http://www.middleea stmonitor. org.uk/articles/ middle-east/ 2478-the- right-of- return-and- the-right- to-break- the-fence% 20--%20link% 20courtesy% 20www.vtjp. org>
*Drone Diplomacy* <http://www.ameu. org/page. asp?iid=296& aid=640&pg= 1> Geoff Simons, Americans for Middle East Understanding - AMEU 6/15/2011 April - May 2011, Volume 44, Issue 2 There are many types of international diplomacy intended to protect and further the interests of nation states. When Hillary Clinton, U.S. secretary of state, says that the United States will continue to fund the Palestinian Authority only if Mahmoud Abbas remains its leader, we witness a classic case of dollar diplomacy. And yet despite the U.S. funding of Israel and Egypt to the tune of billions of dollars per year, Washington was mysteriously unable to use dollar diplomacy to end the excesses of the Mubarak dictatorship, and still can't end the many Israeli violations of international law. Of course, behind the diplomatic options that economic dominance provides, there is also the unassailable diplomatic power facilitated by military muscle. The international diplomat, when able to speak for a superpower, can both bribe and bully. It's called gunboat diplomacy, and it's as old as the conflict between nations. The term originated in the era of European imperialism, when a show of military might off the coast was often sufficient to intimidate other states into granting trade or territorial concessions. The United States has long practiced gunboat diplomacy as an exercise of hegemony. Theodore Roosevelt favored "big stick" diplomacy, and Woodrow Wilson is judged to have practiced conventional gunboat diplomacy in 1914 when the rebel Cándido Agular occupied Veracruz during the Mexican revolution (countless earlier examples could be given from the 19th century). The most dramatic example of American gunboat diplomacy was the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki--not to impress Japan, since the war was already won, but to intimidate the Soviet Union. In March 1944 the Nobel laureate Professor Sir Joseph Rotblat was shocked to hear General Leslie Groves, head of the Manhattan Project, say: "You realize of course that the real purpose of making the bomb is to subdue our chief enemy, the Russians."more. . <http://www.ameu. org/page. asp?iid=296& aid=640&pg= 1>e-mail <mailto:?subject= Drone%20Diplomac y%20&body= Drone%20Diplomac y%20--%20http://www.ameu. org/page. asp?iid=296& aid=640&pg= 1%20--%20link% 20courtesy% 20www.vtjp. org>
*Analysis: And what about statehood?* <http://www.maannews .net/eng/ ViewDetails. aspx?ID=397126> Daoud Kuttab, Ma'an News Agency 6/16/2011 The Palestinian strategy to achieve statehood is making significance progress among certain international political circles, but it is still lacking the necessary coordination and cohesion to bear the desired results. President Mahmoud Abbas and his West Bank Prime Minister Salam Fayyad have succeeded in detonating the familiar anti-Palestinian arsenal that Israel's public relations teams have employed against Palestinian aspirations. The rejection by the Palestinian leadership of any form of military resistance, and the focus on building the infrastructure of a state rather than cursing the Israelis, has placed Israel in a difficult position internationally. However, it is unlikely that Palestinian statehood can be achieved simply by following this course of action. It is sad to admit, but US President Barack Obama is right about one thing: Going to the United Nations General Assembly and extracting a majority vote will not, by itself, end the Israeli occupation. A UN vote, however, could be key to statehood if it is part of a wider strategy. But as this moment no such coherent and well-coordinated strategy exists. What should such a strategy look like? Naturally, seeking national liberation requires a united domestic front. The most prominent Palestinian factions have taken an important step in this direction by signing the reconciliation accords in Cairo in May, but it doesn't appear that there is serious, continuous and concerted effort to unify the Palestinian people.more. . <http://www.maannews .net/eng/ ViewDetails. aspx?ID=397126>e-mail <mailto:?subject= Analysis: %20And%20what% 20about%20stateh ood?%20&body= Analysis: %20And%20what% 20about%20stateh ood?%20-- %20http://www.maannews .net/eng/ ViewDetails. aspx?ID=397126% 20--%20link% 20courtesy% 20www.vtjp. org>

Governed by political and cultural sensitivities, most Palestinian officials and public figures refrain from criticizing the way Palestinians are treated at the Rafah border. However, there is really no diplomatic language to describe the relationship between desperate Palestinians -- some literally fighting for their lives -- and Egyptian officials at the crossing which separates Gaza from Egypt. "Gazans are treated like animals at the border," a friend of mine told me. She was afraid that her fiancé would not be allowed to leave Gaza, despite the fact that his papers were in order. Having crossed the border myself just a few days ago, I could not disagree with her statement. ZIONIST RELATIONS WITH NAZI GERMANYBY FARIS GLUBB © 1979Chapter 7 Kastner and the Hungarian JewsThe agreements between the Zionist movement and Nazi Germany were a well-kept secret for many years. But once the scandal known as the Kastner case broke in 1953, the details began to come to light gradually. The first secret agreement to be fully revealed was the one reached between Dr. Rudolf Kastner of the Jewish Agency Rescue Committee in Budapest and colonel Adolf Eichmann (who had signed the 1938 emigration agreement with Moshe Bar-Gilad), the official responsible for settling the "Jewish question" in Hungary, in 1944. The Kastner-Eichmann agreement concerned the fate of some 800,000 Jews in Hungary. Dr. Rudolf Kastner www.holocaustresearchproject.org/nazioccupation/kastner.htmlAdolf Eichmann www.holocaustresearchproject.org/nazioccupation/kastner.html"As a matter of fact, there was a very strong similarity between our attitudes in the S.S. and the viewpoint of these immensely idealistic Zionist leaders ...I believe that Kastner would have sacrificed a thousand or a hundred thousand of his blood to achieve his political goal... ‘You can have the others,' he would say, 'but let me have this group here.' And because Kastner rendered us a great service by helping keep the deportation camps peaceful, I would let his groups escape. After all, I was not concerned with small groups of a thousand or so Jews. . . That was the 'gentleman's agreement' I had with Kastner." —Adolf Eichmann, 'Eichmann Confessions' published in Life magazine, 28 November and 5 December, I960 www.lastsuperpower.net/docs/nzc5thekastnercase — Nazi-Zionist Collaboration
"If I am asked, "Could you give from the UJA moneys to rescue Jews, 'I say, NO! and I say again NO!" Izaak Greenbaum — head of Jewish Agency Rescue Committee February 18, 1943. Addressed to the Zionist Executive Council. www.jewsagainstzionism.com/antisemitism/holocaust/index.cfm "The great bulk of Hungary's Jews were without organisation. They belonged neither to Zionism nor the Jewish Agency. They belonged only to Hungary, its homes, streets, workshops, sports fields, cafes. Who could speak for these assimilated Jews, these Jews without chairmen?...The organised Jews took over the entire rescue work for the 800,000 doomed." (75) The organised Jews were the Zionists, who set up the Jewish Agency Rescue Committee. Kastner and the other officials of this Committee, like Ginsberg and Bar-Gilad, were officially recognised by the Nazis as negotiators and representatives of the Zionist movement. The truth about this so-called "Rescue Committee" did not begin to come out until an Israeli writer named Malchiel Greenwald publicly denounced Kastner as a collaborator with Nazism, maintaining that "Kastner's deed in Budapest cost us the lives of hundreds of thousands of Jews." (76) Greenwald was sued for libel not by Kastner but by the Israeli Government, whose leaders had been Kastner's superiors and had drawn up the policy he had implemented. The trials did not go well for the Israeli Government. Greenwald was cleared of the charge of libel, indicating that there was a firm basis for his accusation that Kastner's Rescue Committee had collaborated with the Nazi and helped them to exterminate the bulk of Hungarian Jewry in exchange for being allowed to save more than 600 prominent Zionists and take them to Palestine. According to the Judge in the Kastner case, Benjamin Halevi: "The Jews of the ghettoes would not have trusted the Nazi or Hungarian rulers. But they had trust in their Jewish leaders. Eichmann and others used this known fact as part of their calculated plan to mislead the Jews. They were able to deport the Jews to their extermination by the help of of Jewish leaders...Those of the Jews who tried to warn their friends of the truth were persecuted by the Jewish leaders in charge of the local 'rescue work'. The trust of the Jews in the misleading information and their lack of knowledge that their wives, children and themselves were about to be deported to the gas chambers of Auschwitz led the victims to remain quiescent in their ghettoes...The Nazis' patronage of Kastner, and their agreement to let him save 600 prominent Jews, were part of the plan to exterminate the Jews...The opportunity of rescuing prominent people appealed to him greatly. He considered the rescue of the most important Jews as a great personal success and a success for Zionism... Malchiel Greenwald Gruenwald (front) in the Supreme Court of Israel. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malchiel_Gruenwald"The sacrifice of the vital interests of the majority of the Jews, in order to rescue the prominents, was the basic element in the agreement between Kastner and the Nazis. This agreement fixed the division of the nation into two unequal camps, a small fragment of prominents, whom the Nazis promised Kastner to save, on the one hand, and the great majority of Hungarian Jews whom the Nazis designated for death, on the other hand. An imperative condition for the rescue of the first camp by the Nazis was that Kastner will not interfere in the action of the Nazis against the other camp and will not hamper them in its extermination. Kastner fulfilled that condition...Collaboration between the Jewish Agency Rescue Committee and the exterminators of the Jews was solidified in Budapest and Vienna. Kastner's duties were part and parcel of the SS. In addition to its Extermination Department and Looting Department, the Nazi SS opened a Rescue Department headed by Kastner." (77) Greenwald's lawyer Shmuel Tamir (who as a member of the Herut party was hoping to topple the government of the Mapai party to which Kastner belonged) next sought to bring Kastner to trial for collaboration with Nazism. For this, Tamir collected "a suitcase full of new evidence against Dr. Kastner, and God knew whom else." Before this second trial could be held, however, Kastner was assassinated by Zeev Ecksten, formerly "a paid undercover agent of the Israeli government's Intelligence Service, thereby putting an end to the danger that his appearance in court might reveal more embarrassing details. (78) At the same time that Kastner was carrying through his deal with the Nazis, Rabbi Weissmandel wrote to the Zionist movement: "We send you this special message to inform you that yesterday the Germans began the deportation of Jews from Hungary...The deported ones go to Auschwitz to be put to death with cyanide gas...This is the schedule of Auschwitz from yesterday to the end: 12,000 Jews — men, women, and children, old men, infants, healthy and sick ones — are to be suffocated daily... "And you, our brother in Palestine, in all the countries of freedom, and you, ministers of all the Kingdom, how do you keep silent in the face of this great murder? Silent while thousands on thousands, reaching now to 6 million Jews, were murdered. And silent now while tens of thousands are still being murdered and waiting to be murdered? Their destroyed hearts cry out to you for help as they bewail your cruelty. Brutal you are and murderers too you are, because of the cold-bloodedness of the silence in which you watch. Because you sit with folded arms and you do nothing, although you could stop or delay the murder of Jews at this very hour...You, our brothers, sons of Israel, are you insane? Don't you know the hell around us? For whom are you saving your money? Murderers. Madmen. Who is it that gives charity? You who toss a few pennies from your safe homes? Or we who give our blood in the depths of hell?" They are standing across the road from the Sauna where there was a real shower room. www.scrapbookpages.com/auschwitzscrapbook/history/articles/Birkenau01B.htmlAnother interesting revelation of the Kastner libel case was that Kastner had intervened to save SS General Kurt Becher from being tried for war crimes. Becher had been one of the leading Nazi negotiators of deals with the Zionists in 1944. Kastner told the Nuremberg Tribunal: "There can be no doubt about it that Becher belongs to the very few SS leaders having the courage to oppose the programme of annihilation of the Jews, and trying to rescue human lives...In my opinion, when his case is judged by Allied or German authorities, Kurt Becher deserves the fullest possible consideration...I make this statement not only in my own name but also in behalf of the Jewish Agency and the Jewish World Congress. Signed, Dr. Rudolf Kastner, Official, Jewish Agency in Geneva. Former Chairman of Zionist Organisation in Hungary, 1943–1945. Representative of Joint Distribution Committee in Budapest." (80) Dr. Rudolph Kastner www.tabletmag.com/tag/kurt-becher/As a result of Kastner's personal intervention Becher was released from prison in Nuremberg. What sort of man was this whom Kastner, "in behalf of the Jewish Agency and the Jewish World Congress", was to save? "Kurt Becher, tall, handsome, a good horseman, a prosperous wheat broker, joined the Nazi party in 1934. He served as an SS Major in Poland, was a member of the Death Corps that worked around the clock killing Jews. He wore a death's head on his uniform cap and his boot heels were weighted with steel plates so as to clank more fearsomely when he walked with Jewish prisoners waiting for death...Becher distinguished himself as a Jew slaughterer in Poland and Russia." (81) He was appointed by Himmler as Commissar of all Nazi concentration camps. SS General Kurt Becher www.redcap70.net/A%20History%20of%20the%20SS%20Organisation%201924-1945.html/B/"And where is Kurt Becher now? In what place of exile, under what alias, is he hiding — as his Nazi associate Eichmann hid? No exile, no alias, and no fears are Becher's ... (His) riches are for the most part the loot extracted and tortured out of myriads of Jews — before their slaughter. He is president of many corporations and loaded down with honours. Among the many enterprises he heads up is the sale of wheat to Israel. Becher's firm, the Cologne-Handel Gesellschaft, does a fine business with Israel's government." (82) An Israeli journalist, Moshe Keren, wrote a series of articles on the Kastner case, raising a number of embarrassing questions for the Israeli authorities. Before Kastner's assassination, Keren wrote: "Kastner must be brought to trial as a Nazi collaborator And at this trial, Kastner should defend himself as a private citizen and not be defended by the Israeli Government...The echoes of the Kastner trial will keep on among us for years and years to come. They will continue to poison the air above us, like those famous historical trials after which old governments fell and new governments arose. The state of Israel will never be after this verdict what it used to be before the verdict." (83) Subsequently, "Dr. Keren flew to Germany. His intention was to interview Kurt Becher. A few days after his arrival in Germany, journalist Keren was found dead in a German hotel. The diagnosis was "heart attack." (84) The Kastner trial also revealed, for the first time, details of the "blood for trucks" incident, in which Eichmann had offered to free the Hungarian Jewish community in exchange of 10,000 lorries and other commodities. It became known that the Zionist leadership, including Dr. Chaim Weizmann, had prevented this deal for saving lives from going through and sabotaged the mission of the Jewish go-between in the deal, Joel Brand, by arranging for the British authorities to arrest him as an enemy national. (85) "This bargaining reached a dead end and concluded with the destruction of Hungarian Jewry, while the Zionist leadership purposely foiled the mission of Joel Brand." Other attempts were made to save Jewish lives in return for ransom money to the Nazis. Rabbi Weissmandel was at the forefront of these efforts. In 1942, "Wisliceny and Hochberg reached an agreement with Rav Weissmandel to stop the expulsion of Slovakian Jews for the sum of $50,000," but Sali Mayer, the leading Zionist representative in Switzerland, refused to provide such a sum. In May 1943, Weissmandel reached another agreement in principle with Wisliceny, Himmler's representative, under which deportations of Jews for extermination in all occupied areas of Europe except greater Germany and Poland would be halted against a ransom of $3 million. However, "Sali Mayer and Nathan Schwalb (representative of the Jewish Agency) were not moved by the piercing cry. Three million dollars, which could have saved a million Jews, are collected today at a joyous celebration in the United States, for the Weizmann Institute. But at that time of emergency, these nationalists — who had the influence and the money — refused to give it to the highest purpose for which the money had been raised: redeeming those doomed to die... "In only one case did Mayer find it fitting to open his purse generously. He gave money to Kastner to redeem 1,700 Hungarian Jews, 688 of whom Kastner had bought from Eichmann, and who were transferred from Hungary, via Bergen-Belsen, to Switzerland. Here, where it involved saving the elite — for the most part Zionist activists and relatives of Kastner — Sali Mayer forgot the principle of not giving money to the enemy. Rav Weissmandel pleaded in vain to save one million Jews for $3 million, while $1,000 per head was granted without hesitation In this case, also, Sali Mayer acted in accordance with the guidelines which were a cornerstone of Zionist policy: Selectivity." (86) Many years later, an attempt was made to exonerate Kastner by a man who had worked as his assistant in Budapest, Andre Biss. The book he wrote failed to demolish the solid mass of evidence against Kastner that the libel trial had uncovered, but it did make a further interesting revelation: that Kastner's "Rescue Committee", apart from its other relationships, had also closely cooperated with German military intelligence, headed by Admiral Canaris. "For a long time past (Canaris' men) had been in contact with Jewish circles and especially with the Zionists and the representative of the American Jewish welfare organisation known as the American Joint Distribution Committee. "In 1943, Samuel Springmann, who was Kastner's closest collaborator, got an invitation from his friends in Palestine to go and see them and to make a detailed report on the situation. It was he who had established and kept up the contacts already mentioned between Zionists and the member of Cararis' German counter-espionage network Springman, through discreet and efficient work, had obtained important results." Despite the appearance of large numbers of books on Nazi Germany's barbaric treatment of the European Jews, there is widespread public ignorance on one important aspect of this question: the relationship between the Zionist movement and Nazi Germany. The information on this subject is available, but has not yet been gathered together in a single comprehensive study. (Note: You may also refer to 51 Documents of Zionist Collaboration With The Nazis edited by Lenni Brenner and A Threat From Within: A Century of Jewish Opposition to Zionism by Yakov M. Rabkin.) This study is intended, at least partially, to remedy this deficiency.
Owing to the delicate nature of this subject, and the Zionist tendency to brand any non-Zionist or anti-Zionist viewpoint as "anti-Semitic", all the material on Zionist-Nazi relations in this study is taken from exclusively Jewish sources. The writers quoted cover a wide spectrum of views, from extreme Zionist to anti-Zionist, with various shades in between. The reader will thus be able to form an accurate and objective opinion on the basis of evidence presented by leading Jewish historians.

"...The children, they're not the enemy at the moment.
The enemy is the blood inside them.
The enemy is the growing up to be a ... that could become dangerous.
And because of that the children were included as well."
—SS Private Oskar Gröning: SS Garrison, Auschwitz* daithaic.blogspot.com/2009/04/auschwitz-birkenau.htmlDead Palestinian babies and bombed mosques— IDF fashion 2009By Uri Blau Haaretz.comThe office at the Adiv fabric-printing shop in south Tel Aviv handles a constant stream of customers, many of them soldiers in uniform, who come to order custom clothing featuring their unit's insignia, usually accompanied by a slogan and drawing of their choosing. Elsewhere on the premises, the sketches are turned into plates used for imprinting the ordered items, mainly T-shirts and baseball caps, but also hoodies, fleece jackets and pants. A young Arab man from Jaffa supervises the workers who imprint the words and pictures, and afterward hands over the finished product. Dead babies, mothers weeping on their children's graves, a gun aimed at a child and bombed-out mosques - these are a few examples of the images Israel Defense Forces soldiers design these days to print on shirts they order to mark the end of training, or of field duty. The slogans accompanying the drawings are not exactly anemic either: A T-shirt for infantry snipers bears the inscription "Better use Durex," next to a picture of a dead Palestinian baby, with his weeping mother and a teddy bear beside him. A sharpshooter's T-shirt from the Givati Brigade's Shaked battalion shows a pregnant Palestinian woman with a bull's-eye superimposed on her belly, with the slogan, in English, "1 shot, 2 kills." A "graduation" shirt for those who have completed another snipers course depicts a Palestinian baby, who grows into a combative boy and then an armed adult, with the inscription, "No matter how it begins, we'll put an end to it." There are also plenty of shirts with blatant sexual messages. For example, the Lavi battalion produced a shirt featuring a drawing of a soldier next to a young woman with bruises, and the slogan, "Bet you got raped!" A few of the images underscore actions whose existence the army officially denies - such as "confirming the kill" (shooting a bullet into an enemy victim's head from close range, to ensure he is dead), or harming religious sites, or female or child non-combatants. In many cases, the content is submitted for approval to one of the unit's commanders. The latter, however, do not always have control over what gets printed, because the artwork is a private initiative of soldiers that they never hear about. Drawings or slogans previously banned in certain units have been approved for distribution elsewhere. For example, shirts declaring, "We won't chill 'til we confirm the kill" were banned in the past (the IDF claims that the practice doesn't exist), yet the Haruv battalion printed some last year. The slogan "Let every Arab mother know that her son's fate is in my hands!" had previously been banned for use on another infantry unit's shirt. A Givati soldier said this week, however, that at the end of last year, his platoon printed up dozens of shirts, fleece jackets and pants bearing this slogan. "It has a drawing depicting a soldier as the Angel of Death, next to a gun and an Arab town," he explains. "The text was very powerful. The funniest part was that when our soldier came to get the shirts, the man who printed them was an Arab, and the soldier felt so bad that he told the girl at the counter to bring them to him." Does the design go to the commanders for approval? The Givati soldier: "Usually the shirts undergo a selection process by some officer, but in this case, they were approved at the level of platoon sergeant. We ordered shirts for 30 soldiers and they were really into it, and everyone wanted several items and paid NIS 200 on average." What do you think of the slogan that was printed? "I didn't like it so much, but most of the soldiers wanted it." Many controversial shirts have been ordered by graduates of snipers courses, which bring together soldiers from various units. In 2006, soldiers from the "Carmon Team" course for elite-unit marksmen printed a shirt with a drawing of a knife-wielding Palestinian in the crosshairs of a gun sight, and the slogan, "You've got to run fast, run fast, run fast, before it's all over." Below is a drawing of Arab women weeping over a grave and the words: "And afterward they cry, and afterward they cry." [The inscriptions are riffs on a popular song.] Another sniper's shirt also features an Arab man in the crosshairs, and the announcement, "Everything is with the best of intentions." G., a soldier in an elite unit who has done a snipers course, explained that, "it's a type of bonding process, and also it's well known that anyone who is a sniper is messed up in the head. Our shirts have a lot of double entendres, for example: 'Bad people with good aims.' Every group that finishes a course puts out stuff like that." When are these shirts worn? G. "These are shirts for around the house, for jogging, in the army. Not for going out. Sometimes people will ask you what it's about." Of the shirt depicting a bull's-eye on a pregnant woman, he said: "There are people who think it's not right, and I think so as well, but it doesn't really mean anything. I mean it's not like someone is gonna go and shoot a pregnant woman." What is the idea behind the shirt from July 2007, which has an image of a child with the slogan "Smaller - harder!"? "It's a kid, so you've got a little more of a problem, morally, and also the target is smaller." Do your superiors approve the shirts before printing? "Yes, although one time they rejected some shirt that was too extreme. I don't remember what was on it." These shirts also seem pretty extreme. Why draw crosshairs over a child - do you shoot kids? 'We came, we saw' "As a sniper, you get a lot of extreme situations. You suddenly see a small boy who picks up a weapon and it's up to you to decide whether to shoot. These shirts are half-facetious, bordering on the truth, and they reflect the extreme situations you might encounter. The one who-honest-to-God sees the target with his own eyes - that's the sniper." Have you encountered a situation like that? "Fortunately, not involving a kid, but involving a woman - yes. There was someone who wasn't holding a weapon, but she was near a prohibited area and could have posed a threat." What did you do? "I didn't take it" (i.e., shoot). You don't regret that, I imagine. "No. Whomever I had to shoot, I shot." A shirt printed up just this week for soldiers of the Lavi battalion, who spent three years in the West Bank, reads: "We came, we saw, we destroyed!" - alongside images of weapons, an angry soldier and a Palestinian village with a ruined mosque in the center. A shirt printed after Operation Cast Lead in Gaza for Battalion 890 of the Paratroops depicts a King Kong-like soldier in a city under attack. The slogan is unambiguous: "If you believe it can be fixed, then believe it can be destroyed!" Y., a soldier/yeshiva student, designed the shirt. "You take whoever [in the unit] knows how to draw and then you give it to the commanders before printing," he explained. What is the soldier holding in his hand? Y. "A mosque. Before I drew the shirt I had some misgivings, because I wanted it to be like King Kong, but not too monstrous. The one holding the mosque - I wanted him to have a more normal-looking face, so it wouldn't look like an anti-Semitic cartoon. Some of the people who saw it told me, 'Is that what you've got to show for the IDF? That it destroys homes?' I can understand people who look at this from outside and see it that way, but I was in Gaza and they kept emphasizing that the object of the operation was to wreak destruction on the infrastructure, so that the price the Palestinians and the leadership pay will make them realize that it isn't worth it for them to go on shooting. So that's the idea of 'we're coming to destroy' in the drawing." According to Y., most of these shirts are worn strictly in an army context, not in civilian life. "And within the army people look at it differently," he added. "I don't think I would walk down the street in this shirt, because it would draw fire. Even at my yeshiva I don't think people would like it." Y. also came up with a design for the shirt his unit printed at the end of basic training. It shows a clenched fist shattering the symbol of the Paratroops Corps. Where does the fist come from? "It's reminiscent of [Rabbi Meir] Kahane's symbol. I borrowed it from an emblem for something in Russia, but basically it's supposed to look like Kahane's symbol, the one from 'Kahane Was Right' - it's a sort of joke. Our company commander is kind of gung-ho." Was the shirt printed? "Yes. It was a company shirt. We printed about 100 like that." This past January, the "Night Predators" demolitions platoon from Golani's Battalion 13 ordered a T-shirt showing a Golani devil detonating a charge that destroys a mosque. An inscription above it says, "Only God forgives." One of the soldiers in the platoon downplays it: "It doesn't mean much, it's just a T-shirt from our platoon. It's not a big deal. A friend of mine drew a picture and we made it into a shirt." What's the idea behind "Only God forgives"? The soldier: "It's just a saying." No one had a problem with the fact that a mosque gets blown up in the picture? "I don't see what you're getting at. I don't like the way you're going with this. Don't take this somewhere you're not supposed to, as though we hate Arabs." After Operation Cast Lead, soldiers from that battalion printed a T-shirt depicting a vulture sexually penetrating Hamas' prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, accompanied by a particularly graphic slogan. S., a soldier in the platoon that ordered the shirt, said the idea came from a similar shirt, printed after the Second Lebanon War, that featured Hassan Nasrallah instead of Haniyeh. "They don't okay things like that at the company level. It's a shirt we put out just for the platoon," S. explained. What's the problem with this shirt? S.: "It bothers some people to see these things, from a religious standpoint ..." How did people who saw it respond? "We don't have that many Orthodox people in the platoon, so it wasn't a problem. It's just something the guys want to put out. It's more for wearing around the house, and not within the companies, because it bothers people. The Orthodox mainly. The officers tell us it's best not to wear shirts like this on the base." The sketches printed in recent years at the Adiv factory, one of the largest of its kind in the country, are arranged in drawers according to the names of the units placing the orders: Paratroops, Golani, air force, sharpshooters and so on. Each drawer contains hundreds of drawings, filed by year. Many of the prints are cartoons and slogans relating to life in the unit, or inside jokes that outsiders wouldn't get (and might not care to, either), but a handful reflect particular aggressiveness, violence and vulgarity. Print-shop manager Haim Yisrael, who has worked there since the early 1980s, said Adiv prints around 1,000 different patterns each month, with soldiers accounting for about half. Yisrael recalled that when he started out, there were hardly any orders from the army. "The first ones to do it were from the Nahal brigade," he said. "Later on other infantry units started printing up shirts, and nowadays any course with 15 participants prints up shirts." From time to time, officers complain. "Sometimes the soldiers do things that are inside jokes that only they get, and sometimes they do something foolish that they take to an extreme," Yisrael explained. "There have been a few times when commanding officers called and said, 'How can you print things like that for soldiers?' For example, with shirts that trashed the Arabs too much. I told them it's a private company, and I'm not interested in the content. I can print whatever I like. We're neutral. There have always been some more extreme and some less so. It's just that now more people are making shirts." Race to be unique Evyatar Ben-Tzedef, a research associate at the International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism and former editor of the IDF publication Maarachot, said the phenomenon of custom-made T-shirts is a product of "the infantry's insane race to be unique. I, for example, had only one shirt that I received after the Yom Kippur War. It said on it, 'The School for Officers,' and that was it. What happened since then is a product of the decision to assign every unit an emblem and a beret. After all, there used to be very few berets: black, red or green. This changed in the 1990s. [The shirts] developed because of the fact that for bonding purposes, each unit created something that was unique to it. "These days the content on shirts is sometimes deplorable," Ben-Tzedef explained. "It stems from the fact that profanity is very acceptable and normative in Israel, and that there is a lack of respect for human beings and their environment, which includes racism aimed in every direction." Yossi Kaufman, who moderates the army and defense forum on the Web site Fresh, served in the Armored Corps from 1996 to 1999. "I also drew shirts, and I remember the first one," he said. "It had a small emblem on the front and some inside joke, like, 'When we die, we'll go to heaven, because we've already been through hell.'" Kaufman has also been exposed to T-shirts of the sort described here. "I know there are shirts like these," he says. "I've heard and also seen a little. These are not shirts that soldiers can wear in civilian life, because they would get stoned, nor at a battalion get-together, because the battalion commander would be pissed off. They wear them on very rare occasions. There's all sorts of black humor stuff, mainly from snipers, such as, 'Don't bother running because you'll die tired' - with a drawing of a Palestinian boy, not a terrorist. There's a Golani or Givati shirt of a soldier raping a girl, and underneath it says, 'No virgins, no terror attacks.' I laughed, but it was pretty awful. When I was asked once to draw things like that, I said it wasn't appropriate." The IDF Spokesman's Office comments on the phenomenon: "Military regulations do not apply to civilian clothing, including shirts produced at the end of basic training and various courses. The designs are printed at the soldiers' private initiative, and on civilian shirts. The examples raised by Haaretz are not in keeping with the values of the IDF spirit, not representative of IDF life, and are in poor taste. Humor of this kind deserves every condemnation and excoriation. The IDF intends to take action for the immediate eradication of this phenomenon. To this end, it is emphasizing to commanding officers that it is appropriate, among other things, to take discretionary and disciplinary measures against those involved in acts of this sort." Shlomo Tzipori, a lieutenant colonel in the reserves and a lawyer specializing in martial law, said the army does bring soldiers up on charges for offenses that occur outside the base and during their free time. According to Tzipori, slogans that constitute an "insult to the army or to those in uniform" are grounds for court-martial, on charges of "shameful conduct" or "disciplinary infraction," which are general clauses in judicial martial law. Sociologist Dr. Orna Sasson-Levy, of Bar-Ilan University, author of "Identities in Uniform: Masculinities and Femininities in the Israeli Military," said that the phenomenon is "part of a radicalization process the entire country is undergoing, and the soldiers are at its forefront. I think that ever since the second intifada there has been a continual shift to the right. The pullout from Gaza and its outcome - the calm that never arrived - led to a further shift rightward. "This tendency is most strikingly evident among soldiers who encounter various situations in the territories on a daily basis. There is less meticulousness than in the past, and increasing callousness. There is a perception that the Palestinian is not a person, a human being entitled to basic rights, and therefore anything may be done to him." Could the printing of clothing be viewed also as a means of venting aggression? Sasson-Levy: "No. I think it strengthens and stimulates aggression and legitimizes it. What disturbs me is that a shirt is something that has permanence. The soldiers later wear it in civilian life; their girlfriends wear it afterward. It is not a statement, but rather something physical that remains, that is out there in the world. Beyond that, I think the link made between sexist views and nationalist views, as in the 'Screw Haniyeh' shirt, is interesting. National chauvinism and gender chauvinism combine and strengthen one another. It establishes a masculinity shaped by violent aggression toward women and Arabs; a masculinity that considers it legitimate to speak in a crude and violent manner toward women and Arabs." Col. (res.) Ron Levy began his military service in the Sayeret Matkal elite commando force before the Six-Day War. He was the IDF's chief psychologist, and headed the army's mental health department in the 1980s. Levy: "I'm familiar with things of this sort going back 40, 50 years, and each time they take a different form. Psychologically speaking, this is one of the ways in which soldiers project their anger, frustration and violence. It is a certain expression of things, which I call 'below the belt.'" Do you think this a good way to vent anger? Levy: "It's safe. But there are also things here that deviate from the norm, and you could say that whoever is creating these things has reached some level of normality. He gives expression to the fact that what is considered abnormal today might no longer be so tomorrow." www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1072466.htmlwww.google.com/search?q=Dead+Palestinian+babies+and+bombed+mosques.............. *SS Private Oskar Gröning
"It was not long before I was assigned to supervise the luggage collection of an incoming transport. When this was over, it was just like a fairground, there was lots of rubbish left and amongst this rubbish were ill people, those unable to walk. And the way these people were treated really horrified me. For example, a child who was lying there naked was simply pulled by the legs and chucked into a lorry to be driven away, and when it screamed like a sick chicken, then they bashed it against the edge of the lorry, so it shut up.
We were convinced by our world view that we had been betrayed by the entire world, and that there was a great conspiracy of the Jews against us. The children, they're not the enemy at the moment. The enemy is the blood inside them. The enemy is the growing up to be a Jew that could become dangerous. And because of that the children were included as well.
I see it as my task, now at my age, to face up to these things that I experienced and to oppose the Holocaust deniers who claim that Auschwitz never happened.
And that's why I am here today.
Because I want to tell those deniers: I have seen the gas chambers, I have seen the crematoria, I have seen the burning pits - and I want you to believe me that these atrocities happened.
I was there."

فـلـسـطـيـن الـحـرة......... The Culture of Palestine www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJXC046hzXQ(many thanks to Hamde A)Uploaded by shishi87 on Jul 28, 2007
Palestinian culture is comprised of a blend of Eastern Mediterranean influences.
Being Levantines, Palestinians share commonalities with nearby Levantine Arabs (Lebanese, Syrians, and Jordanians). Palestinians, although Arabized today, are genetically an indigenous Semitic (non-Arab) people which descended from the native Canaanites/Phoenicians and thereby mixed with their conquerers (Philistines, Hebrews, Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Persians, Arabs, Crusaders, and Ottoman Turks).
Over half of Palestinians are in diaspora, and found outside of Palestine. The population of Jordan is 2/3 of Palestinian heritage. Most Palestinian refugees can be found other Middle Eastern countries, and North and South America. Many are also in Europe.
Language: Arabic (official), Aramaic, Hebrew, and Armenian.
Most Palestinians speak Levantine Arabic, a dialect of Arabic spoken in Syria, Palestine, western Jordan and Lebanon. Palestinian rural dialects exhibit several distinctive features (particularly the pronunciation of qaaf as kaaf) which distinguish them from other Arabic varieties, but Palestinian urban dialects more closely resemble northern Levantine dialects, i.e., those of Syria and Lebanon.
The Bedouins of Palestine, however, are more securely known to be Arab by ancestry as well as by culture; their distinctively conservative dialects and pronunciation of qaaf as gaaf group them with other Bedouin across the Arab world and confirm their separate history.
In a number of villages in the Galilee (e.g. Maghar), and particularly, though not exclusively among the Druze, the qāf is actually pronounced qaaf as in Classical Arabic.
Religion: Currently, no reliable data are available for the worldwide Palestinian population. But an estimated percentage suggests 60% Muslim (mainly Sunni, but also a few Sufis), 30% Christian (predominantly Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and others) and 10% Other (i.e. Druze, Baha'i, Jewish, Samaritan, etc).
However, within the West Bank and Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Academic Society for the Study of International Affairs, the (non-Jewish) Palestinian population is 97% Muslim and 3% Christian; there are also about 350 Samaritans and a few thousand Jews (not including Zionist* settlers).* Revelation 2:9 — King James Version (KJV)
Rev 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
Rev 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but [are] the synagogue of Satan.
Rev 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Rev 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

'Judaism Yes, Zionism No': Ultra-Orthodox Jews march against Israel www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA5is7IcEqAUploaded by RussiaToday on Jun 11, 2011
The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East still shows little sign of a peaceful resolution. But in New York, there's a group of ultra orthodox Jews, who are devoted to the Palestinian struggle. And as Marina Portnaya discovered, they believe an end to the State of Israel is the only solution.

......... U.S. Boat to Gaza – Emergency Response PlansIn late June, a U.S. flagged ship called The Audacity of Hope will join the 2nd Freedom Flotilla – Stay Human as people from 22 nations set sail to Gaza challenging the Israeli naval blockade. Though the flotilla has the right under international law to do exactly what it is doing and has made abundantly clear its commitment to nonviolence, the government of Israel has publicly stated that they are prepared to act illegally and violently and take severe, even potentially life-threatening, action against the boats and their passengers. The U.S. Boat to Gaza organizing committee urges people throughout this country to plan now for Emergency Response actions. The power of such actions will be the number of cities they are held in and the numbers of people who participate. Now is the time to start planning. Once you have your local plans in place be sure to contact the U.S. Boat to Gaza organizing committee. We will add your information to our website, and provide a link to your site. Send your information to us at ustogaza@gmail.com First step: Now is the time to encourage people to sign onto the U.S. Boat to Gaza email alert list, as well as our Twitter and Facebook accounts, so they can receive the most up-to-date information directly. Elements of your emergency response plans 1) Public protest activities * The goal is to be as visible as possible – both to the public generally and to the media. * As a local organizer you will know the best place to ask people to gather. Possible places include: - Israeli consulate or other agencyU.S. federal building - well-trafficked, major intersection - major transportation hub * Think about what time of day will be easiest for large numbers of people to come out, to get media coverage and for the largest number of people to see your activity. 2) Media work * Be sure to have a list of media outlets and reporters in your area ready ahead of time. * Inform the media of any public activities and protests you are planning. * Monitor your local media to see if they are covering the story, and if so how. If they are not covering it, or not covering it well, call them! * Ask people to write letters to the editor and to call into radio talk shows. * The aim is to make sure the story is being covered, and being covered accurately! 3) Pressure on the Israeli and U.S. government * It will be important that both the Israeli government and the U.S. government hear from as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. * Calls, email messages and faxes should go to the U.S. government: the State Department, the White and to your own Senators and House Representatives. * Calls, email messages and faxes should also go directly to the Israeli government. * By Saturday, June 18th we will have more detailed contact information posted on our website….please be sure to check back then. ustogaza.org/......... Passenger Ken Mayers talks about why he is going aboard the US Boat to Gaza with the Stay Human Flotilla at the end of the month.
Bio: Ken Mayers was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps upon his graduation from Princeton in 1958.
He resigned that commission at the end of 1966 in disgust with American foreign policy and returned to the University of California at Berkeley where he earned his Ph.D. in Political Science. His doctoral dissertation was a policy analysis of minority business enterprise.
He has been a peace and justice activist ever since, at the same time progressing through four successive careers. He taught political economy at Bennington College for six years, then worked in an interdisciplinary "skunk works" at Digital Equipment Corporation for 13 years followed by eight years as an independent consultant.
For the past 12 years he has been the director of member relations for two international professional alliances. In the early 1980′s he and his late wife founded the Bennington VT chapter of the Beyond War Movement. In 1986 he joined Veterans for Peace (VFP) and in 2002 he founded the Santa Fe Chapter of VFP. He served on VFP's national board of directors from 2004 to 2009, including five years as national treasurer.
In December of 2009, Ken was part of the international Gaza Freedom March that got stuck in Cairo and protested in Tahrir Square and other Cairo locations for a week. He is currently a member of VFP's Israel-Palestine Working Group.
Ken is a fourth generation American of Jewish descent (non-practicing). His mother's extended family lost at least 17 members in the holocaust.
Ken is convinced that the Israeli government has learned the wrong lessons from those tragic years. He wants to demonstrate to his Palestinian brothers and sisters that even someone in his situation supports their desire for freedom. Since the government of Egypt turned him back from Gaza a year ago, he is determined to try again now.......... "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," wrote Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was, of course, right.
And so was Gen. David Petraeus in warning Congress last year that the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians "foments anti-American sentiment, due to a perception of U.S. favoritism for Israel" [and that] "militant groups exploit that anger to mobilize support."......... Bio: During my first significant trip to Gaza, John Ging, former head of the UN refugee aid effort in Gaza reflected that citizens of the world need to step in when their governments fail to resolve critical international issues. The Second Freedom Flotilla with thousands of world citizens representing some 22 countries represent that effort: coming together to insist that Israel ends its illegal blockade of Gaza and to demand that international law and human rights be applied equally to all people.
I am a social worker with an additional master's degree in international relations whose passion for Palestine developed during my first trip to the area in 2002.
This study trip was inspired by my questioning the Jewish narrative deeply ingrained into my persona as the result of living in Germany and Holland as a child.
I simply couldn't believe that a people who had suffered so much could condone the massive violations of Palestinian human rights that had begun to appear in the media: the theft of land, the bulldozing of homes and the breaking of Palestinian children's' arms.
My first witness trip was then followed by others: an International Women's Human Rights marched organized by Israeli and Palestinian women in 2003 and 2.5 months in the West Bank of Palestine in 2008.
As a social worker interested in children I also traveled with Code Pink to witness the effect of the Israeli invasion on Gaza youth in 2009 and returned in 2010 to work with mental health workers and young adults building resiliency in the Gaza youth.
On a personal note, I am proud to be a member of the Freedom Flotilla and sail on the US The Audacity of Hope in the name of equality for all people; for the young adults of Gaza who, living in a virtual prison, have given up their own dreams to cheerfully rebuild their people with incredible inner resources and for the many, many Americans whose demands of justice for Palestine are ignored by our own government.......... Since May of 2010, she traveled to Afghanistan four times, with delegations intent on learning more about conditions faced by ordinary people in Afghanistan, a country afflicted by three decades of warfare. Voices for Creative Nonviolence has been working closely with the Afghan Youth Peace Volunteers in search of non-military solutions to end the war.
In 2009, she lived in Gaza during the Operation Cast Lead bombing. She was also in Lebanon during and after the 2006 Israeli assaults on southern Lebanon.
From 1996 -- 2003, Voices activists formed 70 delegations that openly defied economic sanctions by bringing medicines to children and families in Iraq. Kathy and her companions lived in Baghdad throughout the 2003 "Shock and Awe" bombing. She was sentenced to one year in federal prison for planting corn on nuclear missile silo sites (1988-89) and spent three months in prison, in 2004, for crossing the line at Fort Benning's military training school.
She and her companions at the Voices home/office in Chicago believe that non-violence necessarily involves simplicity, service, sharing of resources and non-violent direct action in resistance to war and oppression.

"I am the Policy Director of Just Foreign Policy (www.justforeignpolicy.org), which works to reform U.S. foreign policy to reflect the values and interests of the majority of Americans so the U.S. complies fully with international law and supports peace, diplomacy, and negotiated resolutions of conflict..
The blockade of Gaza violates international laws and norms in regards to collective punishment against a civilian population—a crime in which the U.S. is complicit.
Furthermore, the U.S.-led diplomatic embargo of Hamas is an obstacle to Palestinian self-determination as well as a just and lasting negotiated resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
I'm also concerned that the present U.S. policy could lead to yet another war in the region. I'm participating in this mission to call attention to the suffering faced by the civilians in Gaza under the blockade and to press for change in U.S. policy on the conflict."

The following letter was originally addressed to the President of the United States of America. I have modified it slightly to address the GRAND COMMANDER OF THE CONSISTORY OF THE MAJESTIC: June 14, 2011
Dear GRAND COMMANDER OF THE CONSISTORY OF THE MAJESTIC,
We are writing to inform you that 50 unarmed Americans will soon be sailing in a U.S. flagged ship called The Audacity of Hope as part of an international flotilla to Gaza.
Our peaceful demonstration will challenge Israel’s blockade of Gaza, which has effectively imprisoned 1.6 million civilians, almost half of whom are under the age of 16. The blockade has impoverished the people of Gaza, deprived them of needed materials and supplies to rebuild their lives after the Israeli attack of late 2008 – early 2009, impeded those who are ill or infirm from seeking outside medical aid, and prevented students from seeking education outside of Gaza. 45% of the working age population is unemployed.
In addition to 36 passengers, 4 crew, and 10 members of the press, our boat will carry thousands of letters of support and friendship from people throughout the U.S. to the women, children and men of Gaza. There will be no weapons of any sort on board. We will carry no goods of any kind for delivery in Gaza. Our mission is from American civil society to the civil society of Gaza. We do not serve the agenda of any political leadership, government or group. We are engaged solely in non-violent action in support of the Palestinian people and their human rights.
In our country’s great tradition of citizen activists taking nonviolent action to stand up to injustice, we sail in the hope that our voyage will show the people in Gaza that they are not alone, and that it will call attention to the morally and legally indefensible collective punishment of a population of civilians.
GRAND COMMANDER, you have noted the unsustainability of the Gaza blockade. And you have spoken boldly in support of peaceful demonstrations throughout this “Arab Spring.”
As U.S. citizens we expect our country and its leaders to help ensure the Flotilla’s safe passage to Gaza — as our country should support our humanitarian demand that the Gaza blockade be lifted. This should begin by notifying the Israeli government in clear and certain terms that it may not physically interfere with the up-coming Flotilla of which the U.S. boat — The Audacity of Hope — is part. We — authors, builders, firefighters, lawyers, social workers, retirees, Holocaust survivors, former government employees and more — expect no less from the Grand Commander and the Consistory of the Majestic.
Our boat will sail from the eastern Mediterranean in the last week of June. We shall be grateful to you for acting promptly and decisively to uphold the rights of civilians to safe passage on the seas.
Sincerely,
The passengers of The Audacity of Hope —

2 French ships to join Gaza flotillaOne Gaza-bound ship to leave from Greece, carry French politicians, celebritiesYnet Published: 06.18.11, 19:39Two French ships will join the Gaza-bound flotilla that aims to break Israel's maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip, the organizers of the initiative announced Saturday. One of the ships is to leave from Greece and the other from France. French organizer Claude Leostic said in a press conference in Marseille that the ship leaving from the Greek port will carry 25 passengers, including radical left-wing French politicians, as well entertainment and sports personalities. Leostic added that he hopes to officially confirm the participation of the second ship as soon as tomorrow. A dozen passengers are expected to board the ship, which would depart from a French port next weekend. Only last week the organizers cancelled the departure of a French ship slated to join the 15-vessel Gaza-bound convoy. Following a letter-writing campaign initiated by the Jewish community in Marseille the organizers of the flotilla urged the dozens of activists who signed up to board the ship to seek alternative transportation. Now, it appears that the participation of the ship, which was set to leave from Marseille, has been reinstated. The Turkish organization IHH pulled out of the flotilla on Friday. While the chairman of the group, Bolant Yilderim, announced that technical issues have brought to the decision (i.e. current Turkish issues with Syria), several elements credited the measure to the heavy pressure applied on the group by the Turkish government and the international community. The IDF continue to prepare for a possible maritime confrontation. On Wednesday, Navy commandoes conducted a drill at sea. Other forces expected to take part in stopping the flotilla participated in the drill as well. A video shot from Israeli Navy ships showed a water cannon that was directed from a commando sea craft towards a simulated flotilla ship. This tool was not used during last year's flotilla raid, and it joins a series of resources that are to be used by the Navy in the future. www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4083767,00.html (many thanks to Gaza TV News)

The Irish Anti-War Movement has called on the Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore to ask the Israeli Government to allow free passage of the MV Saoirse to Gaza, where the movement says people are “being slowly starved and deprived of their human rights to live in dignity”. Dr Fintan Lane, co-ordinator of the Irish Ship to Gaza has asked the Israeli Navy Commander to go to the country’s cabinet and ask them to reflect on what happened last year, when nine Turkish activists died when the aid flotilla was intercepted by Israeli forces. Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that while he would prefer to block this latest aid shipment by diplomatic means, force will be used as a last resort if necessary. Lane says that nothing was achieved by last year’s violence, and that it drew international attention to Israel. The Mavi Marmara, which was the flagship of last year’s convoy will not be part of this year’s flotilla. The ship was the scene of the clashes between Turkish activists and Israeli forces in 2010. Freedom Flotilla II is due to set sail in the next ten days and it will consist of 11 ships from the US, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland and elsewhere. Several hundred people will accompany the flotilla. Former Leinster rugby player Trevor Horgan, Paul Murphy MEP and former TD Chris Andrews are all members of the Irish contingent. Jim Roche of the Irish Anti-war Movement says he’s not particularly nervous about the trip because there is no need for violence. He told TheJournal.ie that preparations are coming along well. He and his fellow Irish activists will meet up with the MV Saoirse in the Mediterranean early next week and will then join the rest of the flotilla. Roche says he believes that Israel’s actions depend on what the rest of the world do, which is why he’s written the letter to Eamon Gilmore asking him to speak directly to the Israeli government. It is the equivalent of terms such as "Member of Parliament" (MP) or "deputy" used in other states. The official translation of the term is "Deputy to the Dáil",[1] though a more literal translation is "Assembly Delegate". "Teachtaí Dála" is the plural form in Irish.
