RE: Earthquake I felt it. The house shook for a good 45 seconds. I've never experienced an earthquake before. At first I didn't realize what was happening. I did some research about faultlines and discovered I moved to an active fault zone. Afterwards I thought of how scary it must have been in Haiti considering I just experienced a 5.0 and theirs was much higher. My empathy for those devastated in quakes grew even more after today. Australia's first female Prime Minister from The Casa Del Nod 24/6/ 2010 Australian political history was made last night in our nations Capital Canberra. The incumbent Prime Minister Kevin Rudd lost crucial numbers support in Labor Caucus and has stepped down as Prime Minister. Julia Gillard the former Deputy Prime Minister is now Australia's first female Prime minister. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gillard ousts Rudd in bloodless coup www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/24/2935500.htm?section=justinUpdated 47 minutes ago Julia Gillard has been elected unopposed to the Labor leadership, seizing power in a bloodless Parliament House coup after Prime Minister Kevin Rudd decided not to contest this morning's leadership ballot. Emerging from the meeting, Ms Gillard said she felt "very honoured" and said she would be making a statement shortly. Treasurer Wayne Swan now steps up as Deputy Prime Minister. He was also elected unopposed. Ms Gillard now has the task of leading a traumatised and divided party to a federal election which could be held in a matter of weeks. Mr Rudd's sudden and spectacular downfall makes him the first Labor prime minister to be dumped from office before completing a first term. The situation came to a head last night after senior factional powerbrokers from the right told Ms Gillard she had enough support to take the leadership. The powerful Australian Workers Union and Health Services Union also quickly swung their support behind Ms Gillard as Mr Rudd's support base collapsed. After hours of crisis meetings last night Mr Rudd emerged just after 10:00pm AEST to announce that Ms Gillard had challenged him to a ballot and that he would also stand. For months Ms Gillard had said that she was not interested in challenging Mr Rudd but as events charged ahead last night it appeared she was left with no choice but to throw her hat in the ring. As the numbers were crunched it became clearer that Ms Gillard was going to prevail, with supporters on both sides agreeing that she would win. Mr Rudd's fall from the top has been swift, as his popularity among voters fell from stratospheric highs to disastrous lows in just a few months. Voters lost faith in Mr Rudd after a series of bungles and backflips, including the shelving of the emissions trading scheme. Last night he had vowed to fight to remain in office saying the Australian people had elected him, not the Party's factional leaders.
Lots'a Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes all at once............................ Power to the great people of Australia! F

Please, we are asking nicely. We are continuing to receive BATCHES of emails asking, "but what about X?" "but what about Y?" "but what about Z?" With the magnitude of what just happened, whether people understand it or not, neither Dan nor Marci would have to do 1 thing to back up any of the promises they made to anyone in the public. What they did though tells a lot. One of the first things was that a list was drafted between Dan and Marci of ALL the exact promises they had made to the public. Then, Dan demanded that the list be GRANDFATHERED into any agreement that may be underway between them (Dan and Marci) and "others." They thought about securing the promises they made to YOU as one of the first things they did. That counts that YOU are really at the top of their lists, top on their minds with whatever they "may be" doing, and they are doing a lot. For instance one of the questions asked about the team's statements on behalf of Dan and Marci that background bona fides such as never been released before was being released to "Open Minds tv" to Mr. John Rao, to preserve in a vault that HE controls. On their VERY LONG list of items and meetings, they are already into the second of their expected 18 hour days, they have scans and prints scheduled for a clerical assistant for Saturday. The scans and prints are of background material to be added to "Open Minds tv's" vault for continued credentialing, bona fides and HISTORY. Fran

Hi Everybody .. Here in Oz .. the old ways of discrimination against sexual preference are almost gone ... We're still lagging behind in the recognition of marital status but I think that will be sorted in the near future too These days it's quite common to hear average Mums and Dads talking openly about their childrens' choices, encouraging them to be themselves. Oz is not a perfect country by any means, but I would be sooo happy to hear that attitudes in the US are changing and anti discrimination laws are being proposed. EQUALITY is every persons right .. or SHOULD be Sydney has one of the biggest Gay populations of any city in the world and we're PROUD of it We throw an AWESOME Gay Mardi Gras every year too ..!! ;D ;D ;D Peace Out Nod

As you already know he;s a male model and has walked runways from New York City to Paris. If they are known to the performers and cool about it, selected people are allowed back stage with them and around the dressing room. So far, only one person has had the knack to zip "her" up in "her" skin-tight outfit "she" likes to wear for "her" alternate persona, modeled after Olivia Newton John, without catching "her" skins and cutting "her" or breaking the zipper. They can spot a phoney with an agenda almost immediately! Marci is allowed back-stage, but it NOT her I am talking about! ;D Franklin was pretty surprised when he invited them to his performance for the first time, and <a>- they accepted, and <b>- Dan already knew the owner (also in drag for performance) of the establishment, from his Parole and Probation days while working street duty. ;D Marci and Dan were even invited on stage while Franklin and others were singing, for a dance. To them, people are just people (maybe the right kind of color blindness, but not how it is used to escape the subject altogether today?), but MUST and SHOULD be honored for their heritage where it is right to do so! He is so tuned in to what is going on in different communities, and has no barrier or prejudices that others can spot quickly, he is almost always invited right into a new subculture like and old time family member. I asked him about it. He didn't really say much, exceot that he loves people. Marci did, though. In 1981, when that very special healing moment happend to him, it's not only the M.S. that was washed away from him. (In Roman Catholic Church records) That made him a little different than most of us whether he realizes it or not and somebody that is so easily "walking a true walk" while remaining a down to earth person. He reminds me of a highlighter pen ;D whose ink sticks to any phoney near him, and naturally makes them stand out like a big, stinky, fluorescent diaper filled with BULLSHT!! ;D Fran

finance.yahoo.com/news/Tiny-turtle-causes-taxiing-apf-1122992999.html?x=0Uncaring Adult AirTran Airways Jackasses use Damaging Social Pressure Against Vulnerable Children Tiny Turtle Survives Encounter with Airline Monsters*Tiny turtle causes taxiing plane to return to gateTiny caged turtle causes taxiing AirTran plane to return to gate, where sisters threw it awayKate Brumback, Associated Press Writer, On Friday June 25, 2010, 7:45 am EDT ATLANTA (AP) -- A caged, 2-inch turtle traveling with a 10-year-old girl caused a crew to turn around a taxiing plane, take the girl and her sisters off the flight and tell them they couldn't bring their pet along. The sisters threw the animal and cage in the trash and returned to their seats crying Tuesday after AirTran Airways employees on the jetway said they couldn't care for the turtle while their father drove to retrieve it. Two days later, however, Carley Helm was reunited with Neytiri even though at first the family thought the pet was emptied with the trash. Carley was heading home to Milwaukee after visiting her father in Atlanta with sisters Annie, 13, and Rebecca, 22, when the flap unfolded. Rebecca said the three were led onto the jetway and told they'd have to get rid of the baby red ear slider -- named Neytiri after the princess in the movie "Avatar" -- if they wanted to reboard. "I asked, 'What do you mean get rid of it?' and they said throw it away," she said. "I was very sad, and I felt bad for my littlest sister because it was her first pet and she was planning to take care of it herself." While the sisters say they were told to put the animal in the trash, AirTran says they chose that themselves, despite an offer to fly later at no extra charge. AirTran company policy bars animals other than cats, dogs and household birds in the cabin, said spokesman Christopher White. White cited a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that says the reptiles have been known to carry salmonella bacteria. The sisters say they made it past security screeners and an AirTran gate agent before boarding. One flight attendant told them to stow the cage under their seat, they say. But with the flight rolling toward its takeoff, an attendant told them the turtle wasn't allowed in the cabin. Rebecca Helm called their father, and he began driving back to the airport. She asked an AirTran employee to make arrangements with her father to look after the pet until he could get there, but the employee refused. "I basically had to make a really fast decision because the whole plane was being delayed," Rebecca Helm said. The bin wasn't very full and she thought the turtle could be found easily once her dad arrived, she said. Rebecca twice declined the offer to take a later flight, White said. "We don't have the personnel or the facilities to care for people's pets," White said. Rebecca asked if throwing the pet away would allow for them to get back on the flight, White said. The gate agent did not tell the sisters what to do but said they could not get on the plane with the turtle, White said. "At no time did any AirTran Airways crew member order or suggest that they put the turtle in the trash," he said. Half an hour later, the sisters' father called, saying he wanted to come look through the trash, White said. The gate agent looked, couldn't find the turtle and assumed it had been emptied, he said. The airline, a unit of AirTran Holdings Inc. discovered Wednesday that the ramp supervisor had rescued the turtle from the trash "out of his own compassion" and given it to another crew member, who took it home for her 5-year-old son, White said. AirTran told that crew member the original owners wanted it back, and the airline arranged for the turtle to fly as cargo to Milwaukee on Thursday, White said. The sisters' mother reported what happened to animal rights group PETA, which sent a letter to AirTran demanding an investigation and disciplinary action. For their part, Rebecca Helm says her sisters "are very happy to have the turtle back." *CORRECTED TITLE ADDED BY EAGLES DISOBEY

www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2010/06/25/g20-protest-friday.html?ref=rssG20 protesters set up Toronto campMassive police presence on city streets Last Updated: Saturday, June 26, 2010 | 12:24 AM ET Anti-G20 protesters set up camp at a Toronto park after at least 3,000 people noisily marched through the downtown streets, snarling traffic along the way. Following the first sizable protest, a few hundred people set up a couple dozen tents at Allan Gardens, not far from the summit meeting centre, where they said they will camp for the weekend. Most of the tents were red, with messages scrawled on the side including "Housing is a right" and "End homelessness now." The protest was mostly peaceful, although there were a few minor confrontations and skirmishes with police. The Integrated Security Unit said five G20-related arrests were made Friday, but did not specify whether they were linked to the protest. The demonstration began around 2 p.m. ET at Allan Gardens, where there were speeches were made and slogans chanted. Shortly afterward, protesters took to the streets, marching west along nearby Carlton Street, across Yonge Street and then south on University Avenue. All along the route, police blocked traffic to allow the protest to pass by. Streetcars were rerouted throughout the downtown core. Security staff in some buildings temporarily prevented employees from leaving. Just before 6 p.m. ET, more than 100 police stopped the protest crowd at Elm St. and University Avenue, several blocks north of the U.S. consulate and less than two kilometres from the site of the G20 summit. "Let us march!" they shouted at the police. The group then decided to head west on Elm Street, averting a major confrontation with officers. "Restraint on both sides," CBC reporter Pras Rajagopalan said from the scene. The protest then moved north and then east again as police appeared determined to prevent the crowd from heading south toward the security zone surrounding the summit site. Just after 7 p.m. ET, the protesters began arriving back in Allan Gardens, having come full circle from where their protest march began more than four hours earlier. Many police donned riot gear during the protest. "There were some tense moments," said CBC reporter Steven D'Souza. More than a dozen police on horseback were also on scene. At one point, police formed a line to protect Toronto police headquarters, which is at Bay and College streets. Protesters were making themselves heard, loudly chanting, "Fight the war on the poor! Make the rich pay!" among other slogans. It's not clear if their ultimate destination was the downtown core's restricted zone, where a security fence encircles an area that includes the Metro Toronto Convention Centre — the site of the G20 gathering, which officially begins Saturday. Some of the protesters told CBC News they intend to establish a tent city at a downtown park but did not specify which one. The groups represent more than two dozen causes, including environmental, economic and labour issues. Organizer Gaetan Heroux said the group intends to make noise to ensure G20 delegates are aware of their presence. "The idea is to have at this time a group of world leaders wining and dining in five-star hotels, sleeping very well at nighttime while five minutes away from them, there's a large group of people who don't have enough housing and don't have enough to eat," said Heroux. "So the idea is to bring the tent city … to remind our politicians and Mr. Harper that what he wants to present to the world is a lie." news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/june/27/newsid_4461000/4461115.stmBBC ON THIS DAY: JUNE 27
1963: Warm welcome for JFK in Ireland The US President John F Kennedy has received a rapturous welcome on an emotional visit to his ancestral homeland in County Wexford, Ireland. On the second day of his four-day trip to Ireland, the president travelled by helicopter this morning to County Wexford. Hundreds of wellwishers cheered and waved flags on his arrival at Wexford town and a choir of 300 boys greeted him singing "The Boys of Wexford", a ballad about an insurrection in 1798. The president left his bodyguards to join them in the second chorus, prompting one American photographer to burst into tears. Once the singing was over, Mr Kennedy shook hands with as many schoolchildren as he could reach. He was then driven to the nearby port of New Ross from where Patrick Kennedy, his great-grandfather, had set sail for a better life in America back in 1848 during the potato famine. In a speech at the quayside he said: "When my great-grandfather left here to become a cooper in East Boston he carried nothing with him except two things - a strong religious faith and a strong desire for liberty. "I am glad to say that all of his grandchildren have valued that inheritance." 'Welcome home, Mr President' At Dunganstown, five miles (8kms) south of New Ross, President Kennedy visited his ancestral homestead, a small croft building and farm. The president and two of his sisters who accompanied him on this trip met 15 of their cousins, including the current owner of the homestead, Mary Ryan who welcomed him with a kiss on the cheek. Tea had been laid out on trestle tables in the yard and a banner declared "Welcome home, Mr President". America's first Catholic president spent about an hour chatting with his Irish family, cut a large cake and with teacup in hand said: "I want to drink a cup of tea to all those Kennedys who went and all those Kennedys who stayed." He was then driven to Wexford town where he made much of Ireland's subjugation and religious persecution by the British.
